Going to go with Future Indicators 15 minutes prior to Opening Bell.

BG,

Got caught looking again. Feels like Whiffleball all over again.
Traders again hesitant to commit late in the day prior to key numbers.

4:20 pm : As is typically the case heading into the closely-watched monthly employment report,
market breadth throughout most of the session reflected a sense of nervousness and prevented the bulls
from stepping back in following yesterday's breather.
With Fed Chairman Bernanke recently acknowledging that extra attentiveness will be placed on incoming employment data (i.e. rising wages), worries that Friday's jobs report won't provide enough conviction to support the soft landing scenario
that has been priced into stocks since July left investors questioning the sustainability of recent market gains.
As a result, the best performing sectors over the last 4 1/2 months were among the hardest hit today.

Looking for Intial Claims at 8:00am(Eastern) to set the Day's tone.

Going with the Future Indicators 15 minutes prior to Opening Bell.

BG,

"Senate seals deal on tax break renewals."

This could help the Market to start out the week.
Futures currently positive.

The global oil market is over-supplied by over 500,000 barrels per day (bpd)
and OPEC will take appropriate measures to balance it at its Dec. 14 meeting,
the cartel's acting secretary-general Mohammed Barkindo said on Saturday.

Oil finished below $62.

Not expecting economic numbers to have much impact.

Dow has held well above it's 20 Day Moving Average since early August.
Unable to break above 12,400 convincingly.
Stochastic Inverting downwards.
Leaning towards a short term correction, perhaps testing 12,300 to 12,200.
Trading range of 12,400 to 12,000?
December volume unimpressive so far.

Will and can the Fed ease in March?
If they do, that's not going to help the dollar. Good for gold.

Today:
Export and Import Prices along with the important Intial Cliams report due 8:30am(eastern).
So going to go with Future Indicators 15 minutes prior to Opening Bell,

from www.cnn.com

Retail sales in November surged, the government reported Wednesday morning, in an encouraging start to the all-important holiday shopping period.
The Fed's statement seemed to dampen hopes that the central bank will begin cutting interest rates as soon as the first quarter of
next year.
Friday also brings a key read on inflation, with the release of the November consumer price index and the so-called core CPI.

from www.yahoo.com/finance

After-tax corporate profits equaled 10.1 percent of gross domestic product in the first nine months of 2006. In the 87 years the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis has been measuring them, profits never even hit 9 percent of GDP before 2005. Somewhat ominously, they came closest in 1929 - at 8.9 percent of GDP.

Futures currently negative.
Inclined to short this market after yesterday's late fade.
However, there are several early reports due,(Housing Starts, Building Permits, PPI and Core PPI).
So going with Future Indicators 15 minutes priot to Opening Bell.

BG

Glad to have you back.
Always good to take a little R&R.
It's the Holidays after all.

Sadly, was Nip late in the trading day again. Ugh.
It's be right today or face getting skunked for the week on Friday.

from www.yahoo.com

Although not a Dow component, a barometer of the economy that is FedEx (FDX 111.85 -2.15) issuing a Q3 profit outlook below Wall Street's forecasts brought the growth prospects of some fellow blue-chip names into question.
The stock opened down 3.4% and took a toll on transportation stocks, especially rival UPS (UPS 74.77 -0.98), that were already under pressure as oil prices approached $64/bbl. Crude for February delivery closed at $63.72/bbl
following a much larger than expected drawdown in weekly crude supplies.

3 releases at 8:30am.
