Default Anyone follow Air Canada

Do you know why they hired Celine Dion for their current marketing campaign?

Because it's a lot cheaper than hiring someone to punch every investor, Canadian taxpayer and AC employee directly in face, but it provided the same result!

Geez, can this co. tick me off.

OK, I now learn that Tourism Canada (OUR tax dollars) is helping pay for the Celine Dion/Air Canada sponsorship deal. Apparently, the government wants to use Celine & Air Canada as part of a global marketing effort. IS THIS SOME SORT OF CRUEL JOKE ON THE CANADIAN TAX PAYER? Why do we have to use some cheese ball singer & some bogus 3rd rate company to help market our beautiful country to the world?

A quote from the most recent press release regarding their 3rd qtr. WOW, only lost 81 million, that's pretty good. I'm glad they're looking forward to 2005.

" The net loss for the quarter including the above significant items was
$81 million. This compares to a net loss of $263 million in the third quarter
of 2003, an improvement of $182 million."

Today's gem, a quote from an article in the National Post

"Simply put, we have to beat the low-cost carriers at their own game," he said. "Air Canada will do to the low-cost carriers what they have done to legacy carriers." - Mr. Milton, CEO Air Canada.

YOU'RE JUST FIGURING THIS OUT.?? NICE.

At the request of Air Canada, the common shares and the Class A non-voting shares,
which are currently suspended from trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange will be delisted
at the close on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004.

No wonder I couldn't find a stock chart today on AC.
With losses of -81 million and -263 million, it's no big surprise
that they've delisted themselves.
Are they going to be listed on the Vancouver Exchange?
Are they going to file bankruptcy?
More importantly, how is this going to affect the Celine Dion Ad campaign?
Inquiring minds need to know??!?

a belated but hardy welcome to Stock Talk GoodKarmaGuy,
perhaps, u could sent AC some good karma, they appear to be
in need of some.

Thanks for the welcome Baz.

Air Canada went bankrupt and relisted under ACE Aviation Holdings which is ACE.B on the TSX. Similar to what Kmart did.

Back to the "New Look"? They must of really had thier creative juices flowing when they decided on repainting all of thier leased aircraft a different shade of white and removed the circle around the maple leaf. The new look was designed by Futurebrand Worldwide and approved by the board of Air Canada. Futurebrands is laughing all the way to the bank.

Air Canada calls it a more livery design. VERY FUNNY STUFF AC.
