I like Wimbledon in this morning's game.
They've been a flighty side this year, but I like that in a dog. They have an excellent road record. FA Cup is their last hope for a special season of any sort, so expect their complete focus in this match. And they won't be the least bit intimidated playing at Middlesbrough, both because they were EPL themselves last year, and because they've already beaten Boro 1-0 this year, in Worthington Cup action. I also generally like last year's relegation sides vs. current Premier teams, as the old haunting pressure is gone, but revenge still big in mind. Wimbledon will come into this game fast and furious, completely dedicated and hungry.
Boro, otoh, has shown a disturbing tendency to play to their opposition's level of late, resulting in an inordinate number of draws, with little killer instinct. That's good against the best, but sad against the rest. What's more, though improved under Venables, they still are in a fight not to suffer the Don's last year fate, and EPL is clearly, absolutely their greater responsibility, FA not. They show up today of course, but anyone hurting will most likely be held out.
Boro is fairly the favorite, but not to the extreme odds found around.
I've put half a unit on the draw at +275 at Pinnacle, and half a unit on the Don's outright win at Canbet, at +500.
