Default Fade the Fire

Chicago goes to New England on Sunday to play the second half of a double header with USA/Netherlands.

NE opened the stadium last week I think it was with a win, and the area seems very excited about the team now. Place will be more than packed: 8,000 seats added for the day, so, lots of energy in the air.

Chicago Fire are about the single most depleted side I've ever seen. MLS squads have no depth, carrying only 23-24 or something players, so, Chicago is missing ELEVEN top players for this game, and two starters are playing with nagging injuries out of necessity.

Here's the missing list, taken from posts at Bigsoccer.com, a great site for MLS info:

Razov and Kovalenko are the two who will play through. Beasley, Wolff, Stoitchkov, and Armas are the heart of the team, and they are all out.

Yabet has the best price I see so far, 2.65 on NE.

Good luck to us.

Bigsoccer does a poll before each MLS game, and the results I just tallied are NE 35, draw 5, Chicago 6.

I've seen depletion-created overlays like this before here in the States, which is off the bookie's radar, and have done well with them. A USA/Mexico friendly once where Mexico sent a club side, which the odds didn't reflect. DC United going to LA as a 6-1 underdog when LA was missing 7 starters to various national team committments.

But it's an overlay, not a lock. I know you know the difference.

PJ, have you seen a handicap line anywhere? It seems like it would be a DNB handicap close to pick which seems like a fantastic bet.

You can manufacture a DNB of 1.84 using Betzone's 3.25 draw price and Canbet's 2.66 win price.

Well, dropped a bundle on that one. I should have waited to see if Razov was going to line up as he scored 3 times tonight -- my mistake

The phrase "too good to be true" comes to mind.
