Default pacific classic

this looks like an interesting race,,,,,,,,medaglia d'oro looks like he should be ready to run his best race..........however I'm surprised frankel hasn't found an excuse to scratch him ..........considering the presence of candy ride ...who looks pretty tough ....and considering the way he seems to protect this horse

i guess frankels other horse might have a say ....considering the pace scenerio

if he did scratch m d ...he'd be giving the race to candy ride

so he's got to run him .......

we might actually find out if this horse medaglia d'oro .... can take the heat ...and keep on going

Candy Ride is a really nice horse, I'm not thrilled with the choice of Krone over some other top riders, but I think Candy Ride will still beat the Frankel pair.

I don't see how Candy Ride can win here unless something funny happens. Frankel has the classic Mandella Cigar Trap set up perfectly.

I would be surprised if medaglia d'oro gets beat today, if anyone does it will be Milwaukee Brew!!

Good Luck to Everyone!!

Time for some Frankel to English translation:
Frankel suggests bettors not overlook Frank Stronach-owned Milwaukee Brew, though the Beyer Speed Figure of 104 he earned in his allowance-race comeback is well below what will be required Sunday.

"If you look back, he usually improves [second start back]," Frankel said. "He ran good, he had his [prep] race. He ran good at Del Mar last year, and that was without blinkers. The blinkers have moved him up. He's ready."

Translation:
Please bet Milwakee Brew. Medaglia D'Oro is a mortal lock and I wan't my 4/5 on the horse.

Nice call rock. They bet Candy like the 2nd coming of Gentlemen and he ran better. 1:59 flat, track record.

It hurts me to say this because I am not a fan, but Julie is riding VERY well. I would still take PVal anyday of the week, but Krone is a close second right now.

Going into the final turn you could clearly see who the better horse was....are we seeing the second coming of Gentleman and maybe some more?

If you think Peace Rule was impressive yesterday, I think Candy Ride's race might just be a tad better.

Did anyone catch Gary Steven's comments BEFORE the race. "This is the best horse I have been on in 15 years"

I couldnt believe it. I know jockeys are prone to such statements, and Stevens has said similar things about other horses, but still.

Sure was ultraimpressive and very glad for Julie. First woman to win a $1,000,000 race. But will reserve judgement until the horse runs against a full field. Hopefully he stays healthy.

A performance like yesterday should help set up a great Breeders Cup Classic, right? But this is horse racing in 2003, a more likely scenario:

Empire Maker -- will not race, retired because he ran a workout 1/5th too slow, connections say he is too valuable to race again with the slow workout.

Candy Ride -- will not race, sorry Sid and Jenny 800K to get in, see you in Dubai.

Medaglia d' Oro -- will not race, Frankel unhappy with equal weights, feels his horse should be getting weight from his competition after the Pacific Classic loss.

Moon Ballad -- will not race, connections say BC too cheap, will wait for Dubai.

Congaree -- will not race, retired due to a slight injury, Baffert calls us lucky for getting to see him run this long as he retired Vindication after a TWO year old season.

Funny Cide -- will not race, due to whatever the excuse they used to not run in the Travers.

It should be another great Breeders Cup Classic, and it's Fleetstreet Dancer by a nose in 2.05.4.

Will add a few more

Volponi- Retired after finishing second in the Woodward, Jockey Club Gold Cup with Prado and then Johnny V aboard respectively. PJ Johnson says no jockey knows how to ride him

Mineshaft: Looking for a soft Grade 3 spot in November. "We don't want to rush him" Neil Howard says

Ten Most Wanted- After winning the Woodward and Jockey Club Gold Cup Dollase decides to only run him in New York from now on. No exceptions. Dollase moves entire stable to NY/

TenPins- See Mineshaft

Milwaukee Brew- Scratched the day before the race (not enough speed in the race says Frankel)

Peace Rules (never entered). "No reason to go crazy now. What happens if he wins? Think of all the weight he would carry next year"

Toccet-Looking to make history , horse is injured after running in the BC Steeplechase at Far Hills, NJ. Breaks leg on first hurdle. "We are still hopeful for the Classic" says connections. Angry when officials wont allow him to run with a cast. New plan is to run in Meadowlands Pace in 2004 and The Quarter Horse championship in 2005

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

the best one, Toccet for sure. Scarily enough, isn't that really the owner's actual plan?

1:59 and short change?

is this horse as good as big red, or was the track tamped down as hard as arlington was for dr.fagers famous mile?

i'll take the latter, especially the way less fit horses are snapping off fore legs like twigs.

Trying to come up with some sort of figure and I get around a 113 to a 118. So fast enough, but nothing absolutely as wacko as the performance looked. Certainly wasn't over a 120. I vote for timmy's second choice as well.
