Default Pokerstars - How many Bad Beats Can You Take?

I have been monitoring this site for a while and have found the information very helpful in my betting endeavors. I was hoping to get some help from everybody out there. I love playing poker online and there are so many fish out there but i am considering leaving pokerstars after sustaining numerous bad beats. I figure i have lost over $800 worth of pots tonight playing in $1/$2 and $2/$4 while i had a significant advantage when my money was put in. Just want to know if anybody has a sight they feel bad beats seen are at a minimum because i am just plain tired of losing pots to people going in on draws and consistantly hitting them. Any advice out there.

Jeff, Welcome to MajorWager. We have some great pokerplayers here, so hopefully they can give you good advice on different sites. I have been stuck on stars lately, myself. I had a decent run at 1/2 there are few weeks ago, and then hit the wall that you are now plastered against. We all suffer badbeats, but sometimes the frequency just seems uncanny. I went back to sitngo's, and have hardly been back to cash tables since.

I play in a lot of Sit and Go's and $1/$2 and $2/$4 tables. I have lost 7 10-1 beats in the last two nights. That being where i had a higher pair after the flop and the other person had pockets. They then proceeded to hit a set on 4th street or the river. I mean come on 7 times? I mean you got to figure statistics would take over at somepoint.

Ah you wouldn't be the first to cry foul at PS. Some have even nicknamed the thing, 'RiverStars' due to the number of times some of those who lose get beaten on the river card.

What limits do you play at Sit N Go's. $15+1, $25+2, or $55+5?

I just played in a $55+5 sit n go and the short stack went all in at least six times behind and pulled it off. I ended up in the money with blinds at $600/$1200 which if you play Sit n go's is crazy. And they weren't even coinflips. It was K7 v. A7 or 4Q v. Qk. 3 outs but kept going and going. It was insane.

I usually play 15/1, sometimes 25/2 turbo NL, (9 player or 18) and 12/1 up to 33/3 6-player NL SNG's.

Part of the game is bad beats, I do not get why people think it only happens to them. If you play all day you will get at least 10 bad beats per day

I used to think the same thing. But, when you factor you are seeing X more hands more per hour than at a casino or home game, you are going to see more of that happening. Considering 2/2 is a coin flip for a/k head's up and 7/7 55-45 over 10/8 off suit, how many hands are really bad beats? People being pot committed or getting good value on their money could just be calling pots that do not seem obvious to call.

Personally I have uninstalled River Stars about 132 times from my cpu, but now just understand how random poker can be and playing online is no different than anywhere else.

LIke JD said, you are seeing more hands so you will see more beats.

It has happened to me many times where 1 day or a few days really shine against you on bad beats. Yes it is very nerve racking but you need to continue to play solid (not go on tilt) or even drop down a level or 2.
Everything will be alright if you are a solid player.

I have played everywhere from River Stars to BoDog and you always see in the chat someone say "this site cheats" or "everytime i get rivered here".

Must of saw it around 10x last night playing at BoDog. Including a lucky hand I beat someone on. Playing NL and it is getting close to 3:30am so I am going to bed and figure if no crazy raises going to play my 7-4 offsuit since I am on the button anyway. Since it is 2-4 NL, one guy makes it $8.00 and I call because I am up a pretty decent amount and about to go to sleep (plus most of the table called so I have great position if a lucky flop comes). Flop comes 7-7-7. No shyt. Quads. One guy bets $10.00, few people call, including me of course. Turn comes an Ace. Two people at the table have aces. Of course you know what happens and the "only at BoDog" messages start coming. Now these two cats are obvioulsly busted out and think it was a "bad beat" because I stayed with a 7-4 off suit? Or was it having great position, tons of callers, no crazy raises and the fact it was my last hand?

i think online one thing is do not try and bluff as much. someone in boxers and a wife beater are more tempted to call than someone at a casino on crap hands cause they are mad at the world. not seeing the person is a huge edge you lose, but you can tag certain people by the way they bet, how long they take.

YOU ARE GOING TO GET MORE BAD BEATS WHEN YOU PLAY LOWER STAKES BECAUSE NOBODY RESPECTS BETS/RAISES AND SO YOU SEE MANY MORE PEOPLE CHASING TO THE RIVER AND HITTING RUNNER-RUNNER
