Default When Did Nascar Become Metric?

Subway Fresh 500 is 312 laps or 312 miles.

Trying to figure out where the 312 becomes 500 I see - "The Phoenix race is 500 km long hence the term the Subway Fresh 500"

I don't think I ever saw that before in Nascar. Races are named in miles or laps (whichever is bigger). Only time I saw Kms was in a CHAMP race in Brazil or somewhere.

thats funny I was wondering the same thing. I could not figure out why they called it a 500. 500 Kilometers - what a joke, I do think 500 miles on that track would be real hard though.
