I'm thinking Mark Martin for this week. 12 is not a bad price, but I'll see if I can get 14 or 15 prequalifying.

In the meantime, I couldn't resist:

Wasn't this very common a few years ago? Air dam here, spoiler there, that sort of thing. It seems like ages since they made a manufacturer config change.

Remember the sandbagging at Daytona in years past?

yeah, I think since the cars nowadays are so much more a like, using a lot of the same inspection templates, has cut down on the give and take by NASCAR.

The nose and the decklids are the only real differences between manufacturers. I really dont like "the car of tomorrow" . Let the manufacturers have some role in developing a car that races good.

Kinda like the aerocoupe. That back window was soo ugly, but man did it help on the big tracks

OK, I'll take the 12-1 on Martin as it's the only price available.
He practiced and qualified well at Atlanta last year.

You probably heard that it'll be on FX. You don't get that in Canada?

No FX in Canada. Not since the HU days. Oh, great, I'm going to start crying now.

I've seen TSN pick up a Monday race but tomorrow they have:
2006 Ford World Women's Curling Championship - Canada vs. China

FX is usually picked up by Sportsnet in Canada. My hunch is TSN or Sportsnet will show it tape delayed at 3 am or something like that.

BTW, I coudn't help noticing Newman opened -175 favorite over Vickers and now is a +107 dog. Can anyone figure that one out??

Green flag scheduled for 11 a.m.; NASCAR impounds racecars
By Mark Spoor, NASCAR.COM
March 19, 2006
05:28 PM EST

HAMPTON, Ga. -- Persistent rain pelted Atlanta Motor Speedway for most of the day Sunday, forcing NASCAR to postpone the Golden Corral 500 until 11 a.m. ET Monday.

The race will be broadcast on FX.

NASCAR impounded the cars until Monday, preventing teams from making any adjustments.

Driver introductions were made on time Sunday during a short period of dryness, but the command to start engines was not given.

The weather forecast for Monday is not promising, either. Thunderstorms are expected throughout the day with highs in the 50s. If the race gets rained out again Monday, NASCAR likely would attempt to run the race Tuesday, when the weather is expected to be much better, although there is still a small chance of showers.

When the race does go green, Kasey Kahne will lead the field to the flag, followed by Ryan Newman, Jeff Burton, Bobby Labonte and J.J. Yeley.

Defending race-winner Carl Edwards led Saturday's final practice, followed by his Roush Racing teammate, Mark Martin. Before qualifying 18th on Friday night, Edwards said the prospect of rain Sunday actually altered his team's strategy for the weekend.

"They said there might be a little bit of rain, so we spent a lot of time in race trim during practice," Edwards said. "We made only two runs in qualifying trim, I guess. That's kind of our strategy -- just spend a little more time working on the racecar trying to make it right."

Elliott Sadler, who will start 28th, said there's very little worse than sitting through a rain delay.

"The weather for [Monday] doesn't look that good either, so it's a tough deal," Sadler said. "It's tough on everybody, not only us but the crews and the guys who are going through trying to get the cars inspected in the rain. It's just a tough day."

Is there a universal rule - Vegas and offshore - that the race has to me run within one week for the bets to be valid?

I recall reading that somewhere once.
