Hehehe, I done it for ya...Going thru the 2000 season up till now. Nine times the pole winner has won a race..Most of those were the 24 car on the road course at seras point...That's roughly 110 races...Time to go watch the bracket thing and see who plays who in the Big Dance

Doc, I just went back too, and I count 10 times the pole winner won the race, and not a single one of them was on a road course. But still, I wouldn't call a 1 in 11 shot a jinx...

For the record, here's what I came up with for pole winners by year: 2002 - 4 wins, 2001 - 3 wins, 2000 - 3 wins, 1999 - 4 wins, 1998 - 7 wins, 1997 - 4 wins, 1996 - 5 wins.

Here's the # of back to back winners by year: 2002 - 3, 2001 - 3, 2000 - 3, 1999 - 2, 1998 - 5, 1997 - 3, 1996 - 4.

The 1998 and earlier #'s are probably a little skewed because those were back in the day that only 5 or 10 cars had a chance of winning (and about a quarter of the time it was Gordon). But from say, 1999 on it's actually kind of surprising how consistent it is...

And by the way, I think it was Scooter a week or two ago who asked Doc and I to take a disagreement public. This is just a taste of the kind of crap you have to deal with when you ask us to do that, so I'd advise against it in the future...

hey, the jinx comment was kind of a joke u know. of course iwould have rather had 1st than 41st but a lotof times a guy who hasnt won or run well very often, being on the pole doesnt mean sh*t. justmeans he taped everything up betterthan most for the one great lap. just for me personally having a guy on the pole is usually just not lucky for me.

Anybody doubt Blaney(at huge odds) and his new pit guy will be in the winner's circle this year?

Good early call Scott!

I think Spence may actually see a winners circle eventually too.

What a great race!

Actuary, the thing that sucks is that Blaney's racing his a$$ off at 80 and 100 to 1 odds right now, so by the time he wins one we'll be lucky to be getting half that. If he would have hit at 100-1 for me at Atlanta I'd be a lot happier about it (obviously).

Cat, this whole argument with Doc is a very tongue-in-cheek discussion. Actually it's funny, because if I had been proven right and the pole wasn't a jinx and Sadler had won, I would have been running around the track at Darlington naked (that was the deal I made with Doc). I still got clobbered in that race (not quite as heartbreakingly as you), but if Sadler would have won I never would have heard the end of it, so at least that went right for me... LK, you would probably get in less trouble with nascar posting your race analyses (they are actually quite pragmatic about gambling compared to say....the nfl) than the running around the track deal
not sure how they feel about streaking

i think your right about blaney, the cat is kinda out of the bag now. i toyed with taking him at darlington after his atlanta showing, but just couldn't do it so i guess i'm relieved the race wasn't 30 miles longer from that standpoint.

TA, spencer is quite a turnaround story so far, it is interesting how much team chemistry seems to affect things. he says he is 1000% happier with smith than he was with gnassi (of course some of that is just lingering bad blood over his release). i can't see that the #7 is any better equipment-wise than the #41 so maybe the chemistry thing is legit.

good luck at bristol, we will have to switch gears a bit to find the contender this week.
