Date: 2005-04-24 00:24:04 UPDATE: Belfort vs. Overeem: Scoop Tanaka just e-mailed me that during the last Belfort-OPvereem standup, that Belfort was tagging Overeem with some good strikes before Overeem kanded a flying knee flush to Belfort's chin.

Belfort was dazed and went for the takedwon, and then Overeem guillotines him, falls to his back and stretches Belfort out until he taps.

UPDATE: 'Minotoro' vs. Henderson: Scoop tanaka wanted to add that Mintoro took everything Hendo had in the standup and still didn;t go down. He apparently has that legendary Nogueira chin and head made of granite, like his brother Rodrigo. Minotoro was winning the striking exchanges in the latter part of the fight with his crisp jab, before eventually got the armbar.

UPDATE: Arona vs. Lister: Scoop Tanaka wanted to add that Arona won all the standup exchanges, but that the ground game between both guys was pretty even. Close fight with Arona winning because of the standup and a slight edge in ground control.

Tanaka apologizes for not including these details earlier, but he was too busy at the show to type everything into his cell phone.

Default RE:PRIDE GP 1st ROUND SUMMARY (SPOILERS!!!!!!)

Very surprised Randleman loss.....Thought Henderson would advance......Silva is the the man to beat, IMO.

I think Ruiz beats Toney next weekend. I have to check with my boys at InsideFighting for their pick, but after seeing the way Toney looks -- flabby in the mid section, I would say Ruiz.

Default RE:PRIDE GP 1st ROUND SUMMARY (SPOILERS!!!!!!)

with the exception of Shogun/Rampage and the Silva fight I almost fell asleep. that sucks that Vitor lost. I don't like Overeem, so I hope they match him against Silva next... but I'll bet they match him with Igor.
