Default tonite's IFL

anyone care?

Robbie Lawler vs. Eduardo Pamplona: This fight appears to be a one-sided scrap leaning heavily towards Lawler. Pamplona has won 5 straight over the last 2 years, but is a somewhat one dimensional fighter. The level of competition he has faced is not close to what Lawler brings to the ring. Lawler has been fighting effectively and consistently for 18 months and his last victory over Villasenor looks even more impressive now (Villasenor recently dominated David Loiseau.) Lawler should be heavily favored, +450 or more. He can be considered a solid favorite due to his recent run of successfully finishing off his opponents quickly.

185 lbs: Brent Beauparlant (Dragons) vs. Matt Horwich (Wolfpack): Horwich probably gets listed at around -300. He deserves to be a solid favorite in this fight. Horwich is a crafty, effective wrestler that submits most of his opponents. Beauparlant does not have the tools to give Horwich much trouble. Beauparlant needs to stay on his feet and strike, but Horwich’s wrestling is much too good for Brent.

170 lbs: Mark Miller (Red Bears) vs. Delson Heleno (Pitbulls): Mark Miller has not faced anyone near the quality of Delson Heleno. Heleno deserves to be listed at -350 or more. Heleno is a well rounded fighter that is dangerous anytime in the fight. His only real flaw is that he does not finish fights fast enough. Miller is the kind of underdog I like. He is fit, aggressive and fighting regularly. His aggression may play into Delson's plan, but it could overwhelm him just enough to land some big shots.

hard to get interested in fights that are this lopsided

all the chalk should win, but who wants to lay -400 on every fight?

miller is taking a big step up in competition, but he will show it and let'er rip tater chip. heleno is good, no doubt, but he kinda lets his opponents hang around too long for my liking. im going to take a shot at Miller, i like marines anyway.

and...

who do you like?

gomi is the only one i feel strongly on. i hope he continues to drop. Diaz is to sloppy when he throws and gomi will tear that shit up. Diaz is content to fight his opponents style, so i don't see him forcing it to the ground-where is might be better.

My picks for PRIDE FC 33,

Hansen over Ireland, 2nd rd. KO, right hook
Misaki over Trigg, 3rd rd. Sub, rear naked
Wiuff and Lee, who really cares
Nogueria over Sokounjou, 1st rd. Sub, easy armbar
Sakurai over Danzig, 2nd rd. TKO, ref stoppage, barrage of punches
Kharitnov over Russow, 3rd rd. via TKO, ref stoppage by bloody GnP
Shogun over Overeem, 2nd rd. Sub, knee bar
Gomi over Diaz, 2nd rd. TKO, Hammer fists
Silva over Henderson 4th rd. KO, muay thai knees topped off with a wild looping right.
