Default Question : Purse $ for typical MMA fight ?

As a friend and I were watching K1 last night, we started discussing the $ these guys get per fight.

When considering, K1 UFC and PRIDE, how does the purse $ compare?

BTW, how about the Sapp/Tyson confrontation. That was great stuff. Tyson will crush him.

that was just promotional shit. kinda like the press conference with Kimo and Bob.

Pride and K1 pay better than UFC usually. The UFC's numbers are the ones I know best:
Rizzo $175,000
all the way down to
Telligman $6,000
Tank Abbott's fat ass gets $150,000 per "fight", mercifully he is on the last one of his contract.

I think the winner of the PGP nets about 250-400,000. I forget the actual number.

I'm pretty sure the top K-1 fighters make more than either Pride or UFC fighters.

No Prob Surfin Joe. I'm an MMA Freak. the IFC also has one helluva tourny coming up. I'm very proud that the owner of the IFC is my Master in TKD. Training hard...maybe one day you'll see me beatin some heads in the IFC. IFC is a nice place to start. That's where Chuck Liddel cut his teeth.

Paul Smith?

Good luck kicking ass. Rampage trained for 2 months before he started fighting professionally.

My best advice is to drop TKD and join a BJJ/Kickbox club. But that's just my opinion.

What's your name?

Surfin Joe,

I also train in BJJ, wrestling and boxing. I know TKD is not effective as a single disipline, but combined with BJJ, wrestling and boxing, it becomes a lethal combination.

I've had a few fights, nothing televised or major...first fight...got knocked around....trained a lot harder, fought again and won. My record now as is stands is 5-1. I no longer train with him. As a rule and because TKD was my 1st disipline, he will always be my teacher. His name is Michael Thomas. The IFC was his brain child and he is dedicated to promoting the sport of MMA.

Thanks for the well wishes! If I make it in the IFC (which right now is my goal) I will tell you my name. If I don't...well, I gave it my best! Either way, I will let you know when I fight next Joe!

right on. good luck.

I would sub Muay Thai for boxing. you get more knees and kicks.

the modern day MMA guys with success are mostly GnP (Fedor, Hughes) or SprawlnBrawl (CroCop, Silva, Liddell)

subs are on the outs with the exception of the lil guys like Newton and Mino, the only heavy with good MMA subs.

kick some ass bro

Thanks Joe!!! Winning builds confidence. And Right now, I have confidence. I work with the knees as well...also trained my shins very hard, like the MT guys. If it's a stand-up fight like K1, I'd probably lose. Total MMA is where I'm most confident. I'm not knocking my own abilities, but I know where my weaknesses are and I'm working on em!

Joe, what do you think about the Ortiz/Couture fight? This is a tough call. I love both these guys. Both are very very talented individuals. I think Randy can take it....I also think Tito can take it!!! I'm right in the middle here. Should be one hell of a fight though. I'd like to hear your opinion. I've read your posts and respect your opinion.

That should be a good one and is the harder of the 2 champ fights to call, I believe Gan has the wrestling and cardio to beat up Sylvia pretty badly, who will surely fight like a clumsy retard from his back.

Couture is too old for Tito IMO. He has won several times as the dog in the UFC so never count him out. Tito has the horsepower to shove him around, and should have the advantage in the clinch with his constant double underhooks that he has down to a science. Tito's other patented advantage is the weight gain. He will outweigh Randy in this one by a good 10 lbs I would think.

Tito by un dec or very late TKO stoppage.
