Default UFC, Way better than last one!!!

Who thought this was a way better card than last time? The Penn match was a joke, Penn beat up the Japanese and it was a draw. The judges need glasses. The matches were pretty exciting this time around. I just think the books are suicidal in putting out lines for these events because there are very few upsets and normally the fight goes to the distance. Even if every favourite was -2 and the distance was like that too, you could bet across they board and win $$$. Hope everyone is waiting for the next mix martial arts. If only betting was this easy.

Not sure on betting the fave across the board....Sylvia at close to +500 was a very nice dog. If you had him that's one dog=five faves winning.

I wasn't even close on my picks. Better event I think as UFC 40 was all quick KO's or submissions, plus the Ortiz annihilation of Shammy. I didn't have a problem with the Uno/Penn outcome. No clear winner in my mind. Penn won rounds 1 and 4, Uno rounds 2 and 3. BJ might have had a slight edge in the 5th, if any at all. Not enough in my mind when fighting for a vacant title.

Hoops, I meant favourites that are around 2 and if you check out all the matches the last 2 ufc's you would know that was money in the bank. I had a lean on Slyvia too, if you check one of the message boards, I posted. Also the overs are really good. All I know is that I didn't lose a fight last night and compared to the other sports this rocks!!!

Hoops, I don't know about that, I thought Penn rocked his ass and look at the fighters after the match. Penn landed the way better bombs and he is the champ too. Even if it was close, shouldn't it go to the champ?

Smokey- He wasn't the champ, the title was vacant. Pulver was stripped of the title and this was the final match of the 4 man tournament for the title. Just because Uno's face was worse for the wear doesn't mean that much. Penn didn't push the fight, Uno did and Uno was using leg kicks as opposed to BJ who was punching to the face..naturally Uno's face would look worse after 5 rounds. The first four rounds were clear-cut, no doubt about that..the final round is where the question is and I don't think either fighter did enough to win that round clearly or deserved to get the title.

I noticed that too. One of the announcers screwed up and said that Penn was cahamp when in fact the title was vacant. The UFC needs to create an overtime winner take all round for things like that. I don't think I have seen a DRAW in the UFC since maybe Ultimate Ultimate. Anyway its been a long time. Favs went 6-1-1 so it wasn't a great night for this book. All the OVER/UNDER #'s help up strong, but you just couldn't get them off the favs. MIR and Thomas were kik in the ass fights, but I agree the show was better than the last few IMO.

Hoops and Oddessa thanks for clearing that Penn wasn't the champ. Oddessa the last Ufc didn't all or the majority of favourites kick ass too and most of the matches went over also. I love the books that aren't scared to book this, shows really guts. But Hoops don't you think that the punches that Penn inflicted on Uno's face were far more superior than those leg kicks. Don't you think the fifth round was pretty clear cut that Penn won, at least I saw it that way. Normally if you look at the fans scoring they are pretty good. I think it was 63%-38% for the fight and the fifth round scoring was even a higher margin. I guess everyone got an opinion and I respect yours, Hoops, hopefully next time we see the fight the same way. Hoops by the way did you have a good night? I hope that the next Ufc is going to be better than this one and waiting for Pride.
