WILSON'S EX STUNNED BY SUICIDE BID

OWEN WILSON's ex-girlfriend is still struggling to come to terms with the fact the movie star tried to take his own life.
Australian fashion designer Stephanie Conley briefly dated the Wedding Crashers star in 2005, and insists she's still close to Wilson.

She admits she was stunned when she heard the news her ex had been hospitalised in Los Angeles after attempting suicide at his home in Santa Monica, California on Sunday (26Aug07).

Speaking to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, Conley says, "I am terribly upset about the situation. I was totally shocked to hear about it and I'm still struggling to understand what went wrong."

She reveals she had holidayed with Wilson in Europe just a month ago (Jul07) and found the actor to be in very high spirits.

She adds, "He was having such an amazing time.

"Obviously something has gone very wrong in his personal life since then but he was so happy - I just don't understand."

Since splitting from Wilson, Conley has dated Naomi Watts' brother Ben.

Owen Wilson's attorney says: 'No Drugs, Just a Razorblade'

An attorney for Owen Wilson tells Access Hollywood that Owen did slit his wrists, but contrary to reports there was no drug overdose and he didn't get his stomach pumped.

The attorney adds that Owen had been taking antidepressants, but he was not aware of any other drugs in his system at the time of the incident.

And if you're wondering if the 911 tapes will ever be released, the Santa Monica City Attorney’s office says no:




“In reaching this decision the City believes that in many instances no person should have to worry about whether placing a call for emergency assistance will automatically make his or her medical request open to public review,” the City Attorney’s office said in a press release late Wednesday. “In balancing the competing interests, the City agencies outweigh the public interest served by disclosure of the emergency 911 call. In situation such as this, the City concludes that the public is best served if medical attention is promptly sought instead of being delayed because of a concern, real or imagined, of public attention, regardless of whether that publicity is sympathetic or not.”

REPORT: WILSON SUICIDE WAS HIS THIRD CRY FOR HELP

OWEN WILSON's recent suicide attempt wasn't the first time the troubled movie star had tried to take his life, according to shocking new U.S. reports.


The Wedding Crashers star allegedly slashed his wrists and was found distressed at his Santa Monica, California home by his brother Andrew on 26 August (07). He was taken to a nearby hospital emergency room and then spent a week under supervision at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Official reports confirm Wilson attempted suicide, and now a family friend has told U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer that the recent incident wasn't Wilson's first cry for help.

The unnamed source tells the publication, "A good portion of his (Wilson's) life has been dedicated to fighting depression and addiction... This is the third time he's tried killing himself."

And the source insists Wilson's break-up with girlfriend Kate Hudson wasn't to blame for the suicide attempt, as has been suggested - he was actually distraught after failing to come up with material for a friend's film project.

The insider adds, "Owen felt demoralised after letting down his pal."
