I could assure you that line is out of whack. I don't know who made that line, but the person that made that line knows nothing about hockey. Canadian women have clobbered the US in most tournaments. They had an exhibition game here a few months ago, and Canada beat them 9-0. We'll see how that -240 will hold after the game. They made the line -240 because they know they will have more action on the US, because most gamblers are from the US and they will bet from their hearts. Which is the same reason why the Lakers line is always boosted a little and the same reason why the US will probably be favored against Canada, if they meet. Billy Scott of WWTS said in the show that the line does not mean the odds of a game winning. It means how the linesmaker views the public betting, which is why the US is -240.

Hi Neilm,

Thank you for not holding past transgressions against me. I don't lay big wood , but appreciate your informed opinion, in fact as I told Goon in the chat, posting picks/analysis for regular season games is OK, but in an event such as this the players are light years ahead in knowledge and you guys, Goon, you and even the Guru have provided excellent guidance thus far, I only bet the under in the Czech/ Russia game yesterday, but I've followed alot of the dialogue thus far and am sure other readers have cashed quite a bit.

Sicko, I know how the odds thing works.

Did you bet Canada last night? how many Fins betting into the pools?

TA,

I know we didn't get off on the right foot. Your last post had class and was appreciated.

Where is this -240/+200 offered?

Olympic has 2/7 on the US and 17/10 on Canada. Thats:

US -350
CAN +170

From what I've seen (and I don't watch every women's hockey game), the US has a huge skating and skill advantage over the Canadian girls (Hayley Wickenheiser excepted), which should be magnified on the larger Olympic ice. They've also beaten them straight up the last eight meetings.

Sorry it's gone, was at WSEX, but now they're at -300/+250.

sick gambler,

US beat Canada last year 3-1 in the gold medal game and going into this game are on a 8-0 run against Canada. What part of the US being favored does not make sense?

Johnny

All I could say right now is wait and see. We're a little more than 3 hours away from dropping the puck. If my memory serves right, didn't USA beat Can 3-1 last Olympics with an empty netter, and we outchanced the USA in that game. So we really lost 2-1 and it could have gone either way.

U-S-A

But hey, we all know why Canadians like to do it Doggie-Style?

So they both can watch the hockey game!

Best of Luck!

Man I bet you are a pretty site all decked out in your Canadian gear.

Hell yeah it could either way. The only time either of the two have lost in title games has been to each other. I think Canada has won 28 of the 51 games played or something. Historically, Canada has the edge, but recently the US has been in control.

Neilm:
I said I thought Remington was right. Remington pointed to the poor record, relatively speaking, of Canada in the OLYMPICS in the last 50 years. And, coincidentally, we are talking about the Olympics NOW.
So, your comment about YOUR criteria, which by your definition-which some would dispute, by the way-excludes the Olympics, until recently, isn't really relative to what I or Remington said, is it?

Sick Gambler:
I was just about to point out the US women's 8 game winning streak but see that JD has already beaten me to it. In view of that record, your " Canadian women have clobbered the US in most tournaments" statement doesn't exactly ring true, eh?

This game is an absolute joke!! I just find out that the ref is not only a woman, (which I thought for sure it was a dude) but this chick is from Utica NJ. I knew she must have been american. With stupid fuckin calls like that for a penalty, how can she not be american. She gave the americans two straight 5 on 3's. Do you know how rare that is in hockey? I mean, how can you call a bullshit call like sitting on the puck in a game like this, and to give the USA a 5 on 3 to top it all off. You know the games are in the US and it would be great if USA win, for the game of hockey and for the fans, but this is a joke. Almost every penalty should not have been a penalty against Canada. What a joke!!

2nd period just gets underway and seconds in, another bullhshit Canada penalty. How can they put in an American ref for a game with this much importance. They should put a ref from a neutral country in.

1-1. How can you not score with 5 straight powerplays including 2 five on three's. So I guess the chick ref got what she wanted.

SG, I hope your Canadiens can play show the same intensity against the US as you show when run your loud mouth in here, blowing smoke up all of our asses with you fake patriotism.

You're letting nationalism get in the way of hockey common sense, something you have shown in this thread you have very little of. Have you been watching these Olympics. If so, you CANNOT tell me Canada has been more impressive than the US. No friggen way, pal. Open your eyes.

Regards,

Bayshore

Oh, I will let you know LOUD AND CLEAR when the US wins the Men's GOLD and establishes themselves as the undisputed HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP OF ICE HOCKEY. Then you can tell me who knows more about hockey.

Unfortunately, I am the only American with any balls to come in here and show any pride for my country in a forum that is 80/20 Canadian/ US. You other Americans that aren't saying shit when your team is on the verge of winning the Gold need to get some balls.

UNITED STATES 3 2 0 1 5 16 03
CANADA 3 1 1 1 3 08 10

Please! We've scored 8 more goals than you and allowed 7 less. Who's playing the better hockey?

Bayshore,

Go get your easy money then....

Odds to win Gold Medal (from Pinnacle)

Canada 1/1
USA 2/1
Russia 3/1
Field 25-1

Why exactly they have field instead of Belarus is beyond me, but I guess they're hoping some moron thinks the Czechs and Swedes are in the "field".

BTW I really like Russia tomorrow vs. the US. (For the record, just so I'm not labeled an anti-American Canadian, I have tri-citizenship (Canada, US, Ireland).)

That US womans hockey gold medal game ref even made the french figure skating judge look good. Way to go USA, victory at whatever the cost.

Bayshore what can you say except leave his comments up. They look good on him.

Bayshore - Why did you edit your USA women's comment if you stand behind the american team win or lose? BTW - Russia takes them tomorrow, take the +120 to drown your sorrows.

Neil - There were a bunch of teams in the field, they just take eliminated teams off the list and leave the original up with adjusted odds after each round.
