An Open Letter to “GWB�!

Dear GWB,

The events of the past few days are indelibly entrenched in our minds. The sight of planes crashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the resulting fires and devastation. As we watched people running in the streets and the WTC imploded to the ground, our initial thoughts were for the victims. Many a family in the USA is missing a parent this evening because of cowards.

What is to happen now? Why has our country not responded? We understand that you want to be sure but while you wait, the terrorist training camps have emptied. The so-called “trainees” as well as the teachers are now in hiding amongst the so-called “innocents”. These are the same “innocents” we have all seen dancing in the streets, celebrating our nations worst nightmare. While you and your staff attempt to build support for the attack we all hope will come, terrorist leaders like Bin Laden have been laughing in our faces.

The United States is truly the strongest nation in the world today, yet while close to 20,000 of our citizens have died, our nation has done nothing. You have entered our homes via our TV's numerous times since this tragedy occurred and you have told us that this was an act of War, yet the world’s strongest fighting force remains inactive.

We ask you for justice! Justice for the 20,000 American “Innocents” who will not be home at the family dinner table tonight. It is fine for your spin-doctors to be on all of the TV networks saying that the USA is not 100% sure who is responsible, but is it not true that we do know for sure what countries support this kind of terrorism? Do we not know for sure all of the countries who harbor and train terrorists on a daily basis? Do we not know for sure those responsible for the embassy bombings or the USS Cole incident?

Since when does the United States of America need the permission of other nations to defend our citizens? The time is NOW, matter of fact it is past time, for us to react and send a definitive message to anyone who might consider ever trying something like this again!

GWB, your country needs leadership! Each one of us grieves in our own way, we all have our own support networks be they ministers, priests, friends, etc. What we all need now is a leader! Please fill our needs and do so NOW!!!!

Give it a rest. Action will be taken when it is deemed to be appropriate by people a lot more informed than any of us here in the forum.

If you are as concerned as you imply, then try being supportive of our president and his cabinet.

I think we both know how much common ground you and I have when it comes to our political beliefs...I think we are VERY much on the same page. And while I offer my unconditional support for President Bush, I think the statements Tom made above have significant merit. He does not mean it to be unpatriotic, in fact, I know just how patriotic this guy is in real life. He is just expressing what I feel is a reasonable position...that the time for action is now while we still have international support...every day we wait, the terrorist training grounds can be closed down and the people can go into hiding, etc, etc...

If you knew me, then you would understand. In fact, it has been stated that I bleed Red, White, and Blue. I always have and will continue to support our President and all of those in power, however I am sick and tired of watching the greatest country in the world sit on our hands to make sure that everything we do is politically correct.

I just watched 5 firemen be rescued from the devistation that used to be the WTC and I cried. The true heros's are those that continue to dig, trying to save even one life as the buildings around them continue to deteriate.

Normally, I am a very patient man, today I want action!

I just posted in another thread that I would confine my future posts to the contest forum. But I cannot ignore your personal reply to me.

You are right - I only know you from your post. I am glad to hear that you are a patriotic American, as are most of us in the forum. I truly understand your frustration and anxiousness to have something happen "like yesterday"! Me too!!! I just want our government's actions to be correct - once the actions are taken we must live with them and their consequences. So if it takes some time to make sure, let's try to be patient. If it is going to be war, it will be a long one and we don't want to be here next year at this time second guessing our decisions.
