Easily, presumably. I have a swiss army knife on my keyring, used mostly for opening beers, but every flight through the USA I have been over the last 7 years or so have had that.

CNN reported that 7wtc housed the fbi and the secret service.

I am not sure, but I think 7 WTC was the New York headquarters for the SEC

Dogs,

Well said.

Samurai,

I REALLY HOPE that I am wrong, but I have seen over and over again for the past decade or so just how little the rest of the world seems to care for the U.S. If we were to take REAL action, not just bullsh*t surgical air strikes, the rest of the world would NOT support us. Have you been following the way we are treated in the United Nations??? I have posted an example of this in another thread...take a look below...

"Anyone think I'm making this up? Just a few months ago, the United Nations voted the United States off of the U.N. Council on Human Rights...2 of the countries that were voted on to the council INSTEAD of the U.S. were Algeria (where terrorism is a way of life just ask the French) and the Sudan (one of the ONLY nations in the world where SLAVERY still exists, but no one talks about it because it's black on black slavery). So in the U.N., Algeria and the Sudan are considered more "in line" with the world view on human rights than the United States..."

By the way, in my initial post, I forgot one other CERTAIN ally we can count on...Israel...even if we have been wishy-washy in our support of them in recent years. For those of you who say we should not take Israel's side in the Middle East...is there ANY F*CKING SCENARIO where Israel would do something like this to the U.S.? It's time to stop playing referee and either allow the Israelis to do what they want, or "take a hand" and help the great nation of Israel against the maniacs and fanatics who would eradicate them and US from the planet if they could.

Today is America's darkest day! I am not an American but I was sicken to see what I saw on TV today. All those lives lost and all those injured. Today, all you Americains should be proud to be an American. There shouldn't be any argueing amongst yourself. America needs everyones support (make no mistake, somebody will pay). Let the healing begin. My Prayers are with all Americains!

Mark:

I am completely aware of how others in the world view the U.S. It makes no difference in this case. I am also aware of our lack of resolve to do something substantive after other prior attacks. This is VERY different though. This attack didn't just cross the line, it leaped over it. We will not rest until we have forcefully dealt with the cowards who did this.

If you'd like to lay a number on whether we just launch some surgical airstrikes, or do something more aggressive, I'd love to get down on the aggressive side.

It's too bad that Ronald Regan has alzheimer's and probably doesn't understand what is going on. I'd get him in as a special political adviser on this manner. That man had a set of balls. When Libya played games harbouring terrorists, Ronnie had Kaddafi's house bombed...****ed up a couple of his kids! That is the kind of leadership needed now...a take no prisoners, **** what the rest of the world thinks attitude. I hope George Bush is up to the task. I hope he says to hell with the special interest groups, his political contributors, and international pressures to use restraint. Time to bomb the living hell out of any and all countries that harbour known terrorists. They are all guilty, by allowing these scum to sit in safety and hatch these hairbrained schemes.

Frog, you are correct. 7 WTC housed the Secret Service and The SEC, and maybe some other Fed agencies. I know a few of the Secret Service guys because they were helping me out in my Identity theft case. I hope and pray they got out safely.

Oz,

It's bigger than Pearl Harbor. That was an attack on a military installation that killed about 2,100 people...this is a series of attacks on the U.S. mainland against civilian targets...even in World War II, the U.S. mainland was never invaded or seriously threatened other than a few months after Pearl Harbor where there was fear of an invasion of the West Coast. This is actually MUCH more impactful on the national psyche...but Pearl Harbor took place 60 years ago...in a different time...with different people....different allies...different world leaders. The US will be far less aggressive than you think...and if we DO take a strong offensive, we will not be overtly supported by most nations.

What a day here in New York.

I live in Manhattan about 5 miles north of the World Trade Centers.

I knew something was up this morning when I was out running in Central Park and nearly got hit by about 100 fire trucks and ambulances flying by at like 100 MPH.

When I got back home a few minutes later I turned on the TV and watched as it all unfolded. Very strange to be so close yet so far away.

I felt the need to be near my wife and two kids and spent the day with them at our neighborhood playground in Central Park and watched as thousands of people per hour streamed by as they walked home from work (the subways were not running due to power outages). Everyone seemed to be kind of in a state of shock, most were quiet.

It was a beautiful day here in NYC (not a cloud in the sky, 75F) but strangely quiet -- the silence punctuated only with the frequent sirens of emergency vehicles and the occasional roar of F-15s overhead.

There were lots of people outside but no one seemed to know what to say. Everyone seemed to know someone that should have been there but wasn't because they were sick, they had to take the kids to school etc. But the fact is that probably 1000s of people died in this crime and that every New Yorker will know someone. And that it could have just as easily been one of us.

My sister, who lives in Manhattan just 1/2 mile north of the WTCs, heard the explosions this morning. She told me that the sky turned from blue to black from the smoke and it was like night. And that outside around her house there is a 1/2 inch of dust on everything.

My thoughts and prayers are with the survivors, all the families, our leaders and our country.

If anyone needs me to do anything at all for their friends or family here in NYC please let me know.

Jesus Krackman that's awful...have they been able to confirm, or these poor guys just assumed to be dead? I hate to sound overly naive, but it is possible that someone is alive in that rubble...it's possible...
