I am watching channel 653 right now on directv and I can't believe what I am seeing. I am watching rugby for the first time in my life (or maybe Australian rules football) and I must say its UNBELIEVABLE. These guys are crazy! This sport makes NHL and the NFL look like a girls game. All they do is tackle each other, elbow, punch, kick each other and scratch each other while poking each others eyeballs. All this with no equipment. Not even elbow or knee pads. There must be an average of 1 serious injury per game. I could see how there could be numerous Joe Theismann injuries. Every now and then, there is a pile of players jumping in and lots of poor souls in the bottom being squashed. I watched it for 5 minutes and I saw 3 potential Theismann injuries. It was very close. I wouldn't play this game if they offered me 25 million a year. They're crazy. And they say hockey is violent.

Totally agree, this sport is not for the weak! But they say more players wear equipment more the violent hits, especially the blind sided ones! Wearing equipment makes one feel like a gladiator and one treats and is treated as a gladiator, which means violence! I bet there is more respect for the other player in rugby than in hockey and football. But, definitely rugby is fun sport to watch, lots of contact.

Sick Gambler - Joe Theismann? Ouch!

I remember seeing that as it happened on the tube. I think it was a Monday Night game. LT just got in there and Joe didn't have a chance. Thought it looked bad from the start, and they kept running the replay while the trainer checked Joe out. Ugh!

Ruby is a tough fun game. Played a little as a youngster, before the bones became brittle,wa,wa,wa. It's like growing old, it's not for whimps. It is a contact sport.

These Australian Rules rugby players are on the whole very sound fundamental tacklers.
Suggest anyone who hasn't seen any Australian Rules Football, do so.
Your in for a treat.
