Default Cris and Olympic broke the Spirit of the Rules

I used the wrong phraseology when I said they were stealing when using a 20 cent baseball line, they arent stealing, but they are breaking the spirit of the rules of gambling which is to give the player a fair shake in America's favorite pasttime.

THESE TWO SHOPS COULD NEVER GIVE THE INDUSTRY A BLACK EYE.

THEY POST THEIR LINES FIRST.

THEY TAKE A GOOD BET.

NOBODY POSTS MORE WAGERING OPTIONS THAN OLYMPIC.

THINK OF IT LIKE THIS.

THESE ARE TWO HUGE SEARS STORES.

THEY HAVE BARGAINS EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK.

YOU LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM BUT ONE THING.

THEY DONT DISCOUNT THEIR KENMORE AIR CONDITIONERS.

IN FACT,THEY MARK THEM UP.

SO DURING THE SUMMER IF YOU CANT FIND ANY BARGAINS HERE YOU PASS.

HOWEVER, WHEN THE KIDS GO BACK TO SCHOOL YOU KNOW THESE ARE THE TWO BEST STORES FOR BACK TO SCHOOL BARGAINS...

TO DEPICT THE TYPE OF PLAYERS THAT PLAY IN C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC AS "OLD LADIES" IS EQUIVALENT TO CALLING REALITY A PACIFIST...

Question still remains though, why is it harder to beat Sport X as opposed to Sport Y, both having the same market percentage?

Don't see why it should be.

Obviously it is hard to do either X or Y, but why would one be any harder than the other?

Av2,

Have you ever bet Baseball, basketball, football? Baseball is not beatable at 20 cents, while hoops and football have pt spreads and are beatable.

Yes, I have bet on all 3, and hockey, NBA seems the most difficult to me, personally, then again never looked at it very hard

and football and basketball from multiple countries, come to think of it, not just 1

moneylines are a good thing, are they not? (See pokerjoe's soccer post)

Looking at this season, if took 10c off all the baseball results, would still be ahead thought

You are suggesting it is easier to bet with a handicap, than to pick SU winners, no matter the sport?

That being said, I am making no claims to handicapping proficiency there, and perhaps you are right, i.e. if I can be ahead just a little bit, as one piece of anecdotal evidence (which, of course, could change next week ), surely others could as well? I just want to know why you hold this opinion.

Obviously baseball at 10c is a more attractive proposition, obviously no argument there, but unbeatable?

Betting gurus out there could probably beat anything, would not matter what it was I would think.

Now, if baseball is intrinsically 'harder' then your 'smart' population should, if the lines were the same value, win less on that than anything else? Does this hold up at the bookmaker's end? Is the return on baseball theoretically higher than it should be compared to basketball or hockey (which is also pretty much pick the winner) let alone rugby league, rugby union, tennis, footy, golf, motor racing matchups, or whatever. (taking into account of course, the 10c baseball line wherever)

Railbird,

If you don't like the 20c baseball lines at those stores....Don't play there....

Find a place that uses dime lines or better...

The spirit of the rules....are stores that give you a 7 cent line breaking that spirit???

It's not written in stone what a book must use...as lines are different so are prices....that is the market place....

If the price is right...buy...if not pass and look at another store....

That actually even happened today, too, Devil, which is guess is a little uncommon, on an underdog, of the places I use, Carib's 20c line on a game was better than the others I was looking at at the time.

We see it all the time on the Forums, people complaining about .20 lines, or juiced money lines instead of moving a 1/2 point. The solution is simple. Play somewhere else in those situautions when the line doesn't please you. NO ONE HAS A GUN TO ONE'S HEAD, FORCING ONE TO BET A GAME AT A LINE ONE DOESN'T LIKE! There are so many reliable shops out there that have .10 lines or better, or are not clones. And like AV said, even the shops with the disadvantageous .20 line, still occasionally has a better line on the particular team you are looking for.

Of course people have the opportunity to play at places with lower vig, and avoid those at higher vig, but I thought that one of the purposes of this forum (and others like it) was to praise those books that have done something player-friendly, and to complain about those books that have done something that impacts players negatively.

Whether it's higher vig, poor customer service, slow pay, excessive fees, etc., players should be able to come here and complain without getting hassled about it.

Samurai,

You think that's the only reason we are here...so we can bitch about books that charge higher vig etc......

It goes both ways over here....you state your point...and people either agree with your statement or they chime in with their two cents worth....

In this particular case....am I hasseling railbird....I don't think so....you don't like 20c lines don't play there....I think that's pretty simple....

I just don't understand .....if you don't like a book...why try to win an account in a contest they sponsor...

Devil:

I didn't say I thought that bitching about books was the only reason you/we are here.

I think it's great for others to chime in with an opinion...what I don't think is right is for others to bash the person for expressing an opinion. Reality's first reply is a good example of the former...your reply leans toward the latter.
