Default The question is not "Is steroids is cheating?" but "Is cheating accepted as part of competion and sports?"

It starts at little league when kids birth certs and adresses are falsified. High school and college stars are given false transcripts so they can play. NFL players spraying PAM on thier uniform so oppents cant grab thier jerseys. Even Rob Dibbnle admits that most major league pitchers have ways to hide things to make a spitter(Vaseline on his teeth is what he mentioned). I think it seems cheating is ok unless you get caught. As a sidebar, why is evrone all of a sudden making this holier than thou attitude with Mark McGwire? I dont think there is anyone who doubted he had some serious supplemental help at the timehe was hitting all those homers, MLB and the public took on a dont ask dont tell policy towards him then, why penalize him now after his race with Corky Sosa is responsible for the current ressurgence in baseball's popularity? Default The question is not

McGwire is probably taking more heat then he should

supposedly he was only using things that were "legal" in baseball at the time, so no he shouldn't be penalized. But he is paying the price for all the BALCO stuff just because he was the first to come up for voting

His attitude of hiding things, refusing to answer questions, etc, only contributed to a very negative public image. If he was more forthcoming fans would have forgiven and forgot

dg is right. whatever mcgwire used or didn't use is not what is keeping him out.

it was his testimony, or lack thereof, before congress which is keeping him out for now.

Just don't like the way he was invisible for the championship this past season.

The crowd at STL would have opened their arms

Default The question is not

As in life, vying for a competitive edge is and will always be a part of competition, while cheating is tolerated up to the point to where knowledge of such is obtained by those tasked with enforcing the rules which prohibit it...much in the same manner as laws govern societies...

Yet, I am of the opinion that those empowering themselves with "their right" to invade the privacies of competitors as a means of attempting to enforce rules inflict a far worse and a more dangerous act upon competitors than those actually cheating amongst them.
