Default Dogs go 8-1 ATS in early Sunday action

Before you make plans to just back underdogs the rest of the season because last year's going to reverse aware that it was turnovers that keyed many of the upsets today.

Couldn't have imagined it possible...but favorites lost the turnover battle 23-6 in the first nine games of the day.

Favorites with 3 or more in their games: Denver, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Cleveland.

New England and Carolina both had 2-0 differentials even though they didn't reach the three threshold.

Some underdogs did have dominant stat edges though:

Most dominant stat performances:
Baltimore 271, Tampa Bay 142
Atlanta 385, Carolina 215
New Orleans 326, Cleveland 186
St. Louis 320, Denver 259

Philadelphia was the only favorite who covered...and they had a 441-241 edge over Houston.

Will be interesting to see what favorites do when turnovers are even...or when they have the weekend where they WIN turnovers by a big margin.

Of note: only four QB's passed for more than 200 yards in the early games. Pennington and Collins in the same game (With Collins getting there in frantic catchup mode), Kitna, and McNabb.

Still..a zillion early turnovers even with all the conservative gameplans...

Defenses seemed well prepared for anything any offense had to throw at them. Except for a few games at least.

I watched the Denver and Detroit games.

Good point about the defenses Stevo...

Totals went 1-8 to the Under. The only Over was in Jets/Titans where Tennessee had a one-yard TD drive after recovering a fumble (though the Jets missed 7 points on easy kicks).

First halves went 3-6 to the Under...
Second halves went 2-7 to the Under...
Full games went 1-8 to the Under

Thursday night's game ads an Over to all of those for the full week marks.

Nine of 18 teams in the early Sunday games scored 6 points or less in the second half. A lot of running the clock from teams in the lead...
