Default UK PAPER: BOS, THE PLOT THICKENS

The Times August 03, 2006

City diary

The plot thickens
By Martin Waller
The Times UK

The ripples from the BetOnSports affair spread ever wider. A website linked to the US gambling industry is claiming the involvement, albeit tangential, of Cantor Fitzgerald, the New York broker, one of whose employees was arrested last year over an illegal gambling ring.

He was linked to Safe Deposit Sports, the company revealed at the weekend as having connections with a New York crime family and with BetOnSports itself. The two had shared offices in Costa Rica.

Cantors admits that last year one of its executives was, indeed, arrested under such circumstances, but says that he left the company thereafter and denies any knowledge of him since. Odder and odder.

that is a total bs claim

so if an employee of a company gets arrested for doing something wrong that has nothing to do with the employer, the employer is then under suspicion

'albeit tengential'
