| BetOnSports Indicted Founder Gary Kaplan May Be In Israel July 19, 2006 An anonymous tip given exclusively to EOG suggests that the main man who spearheaded BetonSports, Gary Kaplan, had fled from Costa Rica to Israel. The informant who notified EOG also said, "Gary has an Israeli passport," too. Shortly after indictments were unveiled citing BetonSports, David Carruthers, and Gary Kaplan, he may have been already been planning his escape to Israel. Gary Kaplan resides in Costa Rica and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. The United States is seeking extradition of all defendants to St. Louis for prosecution. Neil Kaplan, 40, is in custody in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Carruthers, 49, a resident of Costa Rica and Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England, is in custody in Ft. Worth, Texas. William Luis Lenis and Manny Gustavo Lenis are in custody in Miami. Tim Brown was arrested near Philadelphia. Warrants have been issued for the other defendants not currently in custody. The charges are the result of a joint investigation by Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution is being conducted by the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the Justice Department's Criminal Division and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Tampa Police Department, the Jacksonville, Fla. Sheriff's Office, and NFL Security and NCAA Enforcement Office personnel also assisted in the investigation. Since Gary Kaplan could face upwards of 30 years in prison if convicted on all the counts against him, it is very unlikely that he would turn himself in. For those not familiar with a landmark case years ago , Jay Cohen, founder of The World Sports Exchange, came back to the United States from Antigua in 1998 to face lesser charges, but he lost. Given all the chaos, confusion, and warfare going on over there right now, perhaps Kaplan chose a good place to hide away for the time being. His problem might lie with the arrest of David Carruthers. These two men don't like each other very much, so whether Carruther's will sing or sink when questioned by the Authorities in the near future remains to be seen. -Ken Weitzner (The Shrink) http://news.google.com/news?nu...C%20israel&sa=N&tab=wn |

| well regardless if he is there or not, doesn't this raise a flag to those he does business with as to whether or not he will go to the press with info about them should they run into unfortunate times? The man cashes their checks for years and years and drops a dime on them for some publicity? That to me is just wrong. |

I'm not familiar with the Eddie Antar case, but was he an Israeli citizen? A lot of countries around the world have laws which prevent them from extraditing their own citizens... |
