| I wonder where are the people who were saying she can win on the PGA tour Look it is great she gets a sponsers exception, but she is totally outclassed vs PGA pro's If she wants to play on the PGA tour- Have her go too Q-School from round 1 , no exceptions and lets see what she can do under the pressure that the men face trying to make the tour The Kicker I love is if she doesn't make Q-School, she can't go back too the LPGA tour but too the Nationwide tour Look she wants to play vs the Men then she should face the same pressures the guys do, not a free roll sure people will blast me for this post, but lets face facts, all is she is a drawing card being used by Nike for their gain |

| I said after the US Open qualifying that she wasnt ready for the men's tour. At the same time she isnt the only one getting a free ride here. This is historically the worst field on tour all year in this event. Guys like Jim McGovern and David Gossett, and several others are getting invites. Guys who arent on the tour. So its not just her. She is going to dominate the women's tour for years to come, have no problem with her trying to make a few men's events as well. |

| She would never win on the PGA Tour, last time I checked you have to make a cut to get paid on PGA tour Great for the PGA ratings, as I said before put her up vs Nascar any Sunday and LPGA's ratings will be a distance 2nd |
| |||
| What does Nascar have to do with Michelle Wie? Why not compare the NFL to speed skating? Only fair comparison is an LPGA event with her, and one without her. How many cuts has David Gossett made this year on tour? Mike Small? |
| |||
| Comparasion is when people say she will be a huge TV ratings draw, lets see what LPGA does vs Nascar on a Sunday, LPGA will come in a very distance 2nd, that is comparasion I am making LPGA will be always viewed as a minor sport in people's eyes , just like the WNBA where as Nascar is a f'n promotional machine No doubting her talent , she will be good |
| |||
| Again thats not a fair comparison. Why not compare Nationwide to Nascar? Who knows whats in store for LPGA ratings. I dont care about tv ratings. I love golf and horse racing dont care if no one else does. Just like hockey fans dont care that no one watches the NHL |

| She has not won 1 tourny on the LPGA tour....she better win on one tour before she tries to win on other tours.

| Michelle is going to do to the LPGA what Tiger did for the men's tour. Increase interest for the casual fan. That's a nice thing for the women, they need a little jolt. Let's face it, golf in general, is a niche sport, always will be. The LPGA even more so. It isn't fair to compare it to anything but last year's numbers for the same event. Not NASCAR, not Oprah, not Seseme St. There is no downside to Michelle playing with the men this week. It's good for Nike, good for John Deere, good for the LPGA, good for the PGA, good for the fans, good for network, good for the charities, good all around. Will Wie ever win a men's event? No, and hell no. Will she ever play on the weekend? You bet she will. The real question should be---How much will Michelle dominate the women's tour? And will the fans turn on her because she's winning half of the events? I guess we will see in about 5 years. |

| 6-over par 77...very poor on an easy course. Next to last place of 156 players as of 6:10 p.m. with some people still on the course. Oddsmakers had the target at 70...with -210 or so the favorite for NOT making the cut. Was she going to make the cut 1 out of 3 times? Probably not even a mathematical chance now. Today's leaders shot 64. She'd have to shoot that just to get back under par... Note...she hasn't won an LPGA event partly because she's not on the tour yet. Her percentage of top ten finishes in the events she's been allowed to play is huge...which is why the computers have her ranked as the #2 female on the planet even though she's not old enough to play on the LPGA tour yet. |

| She picked a tough frickin spot. She should pick easier tournaments. Whoever is managing her is either a genius-- and knows she is not going to be competitive with the men and getting all this exposure early in her career until she is found out or a moron-- I think if he she dominated the LPGA their may be some groundswell support to see her play the PGA.

| <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: mjh218 She has not won 1 tourny on the LPGA tour....she better win on one tour before she tries to win on other tours.</end quote></div> mjh, how many golfers on any tour have a record like hers in the majors. Specifically top 5's for percentage of majors entered? You dont think she has proven she can play on the women's tour based on that record and the fact she is 16? |

| the bottom line is that there is a struggling local guy at each tourney that doesnt get an exemption to his hometown pga event because michelle or annika gets his spot. i dont care if it happens twice a yr. or 20 times, its bogus. If women or their sponsers want them to play in an event, i have no problem, 4 spot monday qualify for the tourney like every other guy out there trying to make a living playing golf. It simply isnt fair to hand out exemptions to women when there are plenty of guys who are trying to play. Wether or not these women play in the tourney will never change their status on their tour so why does it matter. women would cry foul if men put their best 16 yr. old in one of their tourneys, so stay on your own tour UNLESS you can qualify to play in a mens event. It is only fair and im sick of the special treatment that truly robs a local guy from a deserving exemption. Again, if you can monday qualify for the event, thats great but sponsers are truly kicking dirt on the local guy who counts on a chance to play at home once a yr. |

| rayray, what you are not understanding is you are arguing one person should get an exemption over another. Not that one should get one and one shouldnt. They GAVE several exemptions to men. Does the tournament not have a right to run their event like they see fit? |

| She sells tickets, improves ratings and makes the sponsors happy. She doesn't necessarily take the spot of some undeserving fringe player anyway -- the tourney can just send an extra group off if they please. My guess is Nike, her other sponsors, her family, and Michelle want to play so that is fine. Johnny Miller said that Annika Sorenstam (which I agree with) could maintain a PGA tour card if she played regularly, so I'm sure in a few years Michelle will be good enough to do that. She should have probably waited untill she was a little more experienced to play on the PGA tour, but I think that goes back to her sponsors, who want to get their money's worth by keeping Michelle in the news. |
