I can't believe nobody is talking about this. Just saw the tape on the news shows and man this is chilling.

A man in his early 20s was killed and a woman was wounded in an early morning shooting Sunday at the Silver Nugget casino in North Las Vegas, police said.

In video surveillance footage released by the North Las Vegas police, a man who appears to be in his late teens or early 20s can be seen firing a handgun at several people after a fight broke out about 4:25 a.m. near the door of the Silver Nugget pool hall.

The casino's security guards had been alerted of a disturbance in the pool hall and had gone into the room to force out the group of men and a few women, all of whom appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s. The guards aren't seen on the video released to the media.

As the group steps out of the billiards room into a hallway near the east-side entrance of the casino, which is on Las Vegas Boulevard near Lake Mead Boulevard, one of the larger men in the group can be seen arguing with the smallest man in the group. Another man then sucker-punches the smaller man.

The group starts to scatter as another man splashes a drink in the face of the shooter, who pulls out a handgun and begins firing.

Holding up his baggy khaki shorts with his left hand and holding the gun in his right, the gunman trots up and then back down the hallway area, firing at least three shots.

People in the area scramble for cover and disappear from the camera's view behind a pillar. Neither victim can be seen after the shooting.

The woman was shot in the hand and taken to University Medical Center for treatment, police said.

A few seconds later, the suspect stops shooting and runs out with another man.

Like the rest of the group he was with, the gunman is black. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with the brim turned to the back of his head, a dark sweat shirt with a gray strip about 6 inches wide on both sleeves and oversize cargo shorts.

Sean Walker, a spokesman for the North Las Vegas police, said the Silver Nugget is frequented by locals and the elderly and hasn't had any previous shootings. "But every once in a while you get a bad seed," Walker said.

A representative of the Silver Nugget could not be reached for comment Sunday.

In the casino parking lot Sunday afternoon, a woman who wouldn't give her name said she goes to the Silver Nugget regularly and was surprised to hear of the shooting.

"It's a very safe place. I feel safer here than at the bigger casinos," she said.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying the gunman.

"The tape's good enough that we think we can (identify him)," Walker said.

Casinos are the worst place to try to get away with crime because they have so many surveillance cameras, Walker said.

With cops saying stupid things like this, is it any wonder that gangstas still think they can get away with stuff? Who exactly does Mr. Walker think he's educating with this statement? John Dillinger?

Victim ID'd in videotaped shooting at North Las Vegas casino

June 26, 2006 04:37 PM EDT

Authorities have identified a 20 year old Las Vegas man killed in a North Las Vegas casino shooting that was captured on a videotape now being circulated around the country.

Allen Tyrone Smith was killed when a gunman opened fire and people scrambled for cover a little before 4:30 yesterday morning (Sunday) at the Silver Nugget casino.

The casino's about seven miles north of the Las Vegas Strip. Police say a woman in her 40s was wounded in the hand. She's been treated at a Las Vegas hospital and released. Neither victim is seen on the video. But the shooter is.

North Las Vegas police say they're pretty sure the tape will help identify the gunman -- who appears to be in his late teens or early 20s.

Yeah, this was one incident, but this one and the one recently with the gang of Vegas teens beating and robbing people outside casinos, this crap has got to stop.

All those pieces of s*** hanging out on the street between the strip and downtown, something needs to be down about them. Drinking from paper bags, just looking for trouble. Throw them local loiters in jail.

Crime there seems to be rivaling Detroit. All these out-of-work, degenerate punks who inevitably will go to prison. Makes me sick.

I'm glad I'm not black. If you're black and upstanding, you have these pieces of s*** in your community making it worse for you. Yeah, white people have white trash giving us a bad name, but I don't think it's the same.

There has got to be a better angle of this that they are't releasing. Even in a casino of this size I can't see the camera they are showing on the news being the only one that covers this area.

If you're talking about North Las Vegas, trust me, the rest of us Las Vegans are right there with you. If it weren't for this minority-filled part of town, there wouldn't be much to talk about on the local news except for our many crooked politicians.

Shooting around in a crowded casino because someone throws a drink in your face pretty much tells how sick some people are.. Hope they catch him quick, so he can spend the rest of his sick life in jail.

Homeboy must have lost his money to Bodog and was feeling surly. BTW, Mike Cash, I don't drink. Pretty sure I'll have cause to celebrate before the Bodog conference wraps up, though. Warm regards.

Biff I hate to break it to you brother but nobody here really cares about what you think about Bodog or what you have to say about them. This board is for gamblers, serious gamblers. While we all shoot the shit with each other about this and that, at the end of the day what people wanna read here is industry chat and betting related info, not some broken record with a chip on his shoulder.

While your comments have been entertaining to some recently your act is gonna get old real fast here. You can only beat a dead horse so long and before your one man posting committee is gonna ruin Bodog's business people are going to get sick of hearing from you everytime there is a Bodog story.

It's a free country and you can do what you want but I am just telling you that whatever it is you think your posting career here is going to accomplish chances are people are gonna get sick of hearing the same thing over and over and over and over and over from you before you ever succeed. Calvin's detractors here are well aware of everything from his past right on up through today, you aren't breaking any news we all haven't already heard.

Move on man, or at the very least work some new material into your act.

Nobody cares about what I have to say about Bodog? Gee, that's funny, Mike. You've put a lot of energy into responding to my posts. I know everyone that reads these message boards is well aware of Ayre's past; who do you think made them aware of it. Actually, I had not planned on any further posts on Major Wager, but now that I know that some are being amused, maybe I'll keep posting as long as Russ will allow it. If I have to tone it down, no problem. Serious gamblers only, you say. Well, Mikey, just because you got a site and are raking it in from the suckers doesn't make you a gambler. And when did you get paid off by Ayre? It was a short six months ago you were contacting "The Cold Eye" to whine about Ayre muzzling you with the threat of a lawsuit. I appreciate your concern for my mental health, Mike, I really do. You sound like a decent human being. Money is not my thing, though, Mike. I wouldn't trade places with Ayre for any amount of money. The man is devoid of a soul. I just been having a bit of fun on the MW, Mike, but I have had numerous contacts with reputable, mainstream media in Canada and the US concerning Calvin Ayre. I asked Calvin last fall to put me in touch with my 17 yr. old twins that I have not seen for 11 yrs. Naturally, since he has no comprehension of human decency, he couldn't be bothered to respond. BTW, he is their uncle. Surely to God you have all heard the stories of money trumping right in family courts. My beef has nothing to do with envy or jealousy, Mike. Calvin's fame has presented me with an opportunity to get the story of the real Calvin Ayre into the public eye, and prevent him from having carte blanche to spin whatever tale he wants about his past. Fruit hauler to pay for university, that's a good one. And I know it's pissing him off, you can see that every time he responds to a media question by saying, "I'm not going to talk about that". I'm not playing here, Mike. When people go up against the kind of money Ayre has, very bad things can happen. No one actually believes he owns Bodog by himself, do they? I'm putting my life on the line for what I believe in, what's your motive? I won't trivialize this by signing off with "warm regards", and please don't respond with more advice to "get on with my life". My children's names are William and Chantel, if anyone in Costa Rica knows them, please tell them I love them and never stopped thinking about them. Parental Alienation Syndrome. It's a modern day plague!

Calvin has never threatened to sue me Biff nor would he, I think you have your facts mixed up.
