| Everyday little old ladies get raped and murdered, young kids die of cancer, 40 year old guys have sudden heart attacks at the office trying to provide for their family Yet the entire world (US) has stopped for this animal Barbaro. Let me break it to you, if Barbaro was not a Grade 1 winner he would have already been put down. Horses everyday in the prime of their life get loaded onto the van by their owner and sold to the meatman - solely because they are not fast enough. So everyone get a grip - it's a goddamn racehorse. If we did not enjoy wagering on them, the breed would exist in limited quantities in zoos. Even if he survives this surgery, he will have no mobility for 6 months. This is an animal whose natural God-driven instinct is to run as fast as he can and his body will be hung from the ceiling so he cannot re-injure himself. And is all of these surgeries and all of these people watching him some kind of grand humanitarian effort, heeelllll NO! It is strictly a business decision. The racing manager knows exactly how much they can risk in trying to save him before he gets sold to the meatman too. Heck with all of this attention he will probably get 100k a pop if he is able to impregnate a mare. Maybe we should hold a nationwide candlelight vigil at our local racetracks tonight. Fukkin idiots.

| SPorts provide an escape from mundane existence. This country could not possibly have been built without the horse. There is some degree of a wild wild west mentality in the fabric of the country- it is not surprising to me in the slightest the outpouring of sympathy these animals receive when they break down and I obviously do not think it is idiotic, I think it is what you would expect. Local news just finished-8 people shot in the city last night-do I feel badly for them of course-but I feel just as badly for myself having to live with this shit- now pretend i know nothing abt racing- hell yea I am going to be upset when my escape from the shootings all of sudden snaps a leg. I am happy the horses capture the collective imagination of the world it enables me some entertainment and hopefully extra funds.

| <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>We humans are a stupid breed</end quote></div> Some more than others- winning beyer yesterday=117-if I flare my nostrils enough I can almost make out the smell of newly minted bills. It bothers me too Loman, and I have actually been to a place where they trade the flesh by the pound-quite a few out in the Amish country, the instant up and down yesterday was like nothing on earth-I was against him pretty good, was ecstatic when I heard he was being pulled up and was very disturbed when the full magnitude of the situation was made known.

| You're so right. If this was a mare or gelding he would already be glue. If he would have lost the Preakness they would have retired and studded him out anyway. His racing days would have been over regardless. |

| He is a KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER-there is hardly any sports crown in US sports more regal. regardless they lowered the Beyer to 113 yesterday so that distant smell of fresh bills just became a little bit more faint.
