Default Do the Sixers STINK that bad ???
Detroit favored by 3.5 tonight and coming off 3rd game in 4 nights and pretty much locked up 1st seed and home court throughout playoffs ? Add Detroit is like 2-10 ATS in last 12 games and the Sixers are desperate to hang on to the 8th playoff spot and off yesterday. Blogguy, Stevo, any care to comment what am I missing here ??

I personally think that they do. As much as I love AI, and can't place the blame at all on his shoulders, this team needs to be blown up. Unfortunately, they'll never be able to trade any of the fat contracts outside of Iverson's, so this team will be in place for a long time. Hopefully, King and Cheeks don't last so long either, but I think Mo is here for at least another few years.

Anyways, unless Iverson drops 40+ tonight (which is possible), the Sixers won't cover this one. Sheed will dominate Webber, Hunter won't be able to rebound over Big Ben, and Iguodala will be the only guy out there that attempts to guard someone. Detroit is the play for me, along with Webber under 20 points, and Iverson over 41 pts+rebs+assists.

With press about Iverson not being healthy and books well knowing it the line seems low to me. Philly sucks at all the worst times for them it seems.

I'll pass trying to outsmart the books on a whole game spread and hope for a half.

Here's what I put up in the THINK TANK after Mr. Airbets posted Detroit as an early play and wanted comments...

Detroit has been bouncing around a lot lately...seemingly getting up for the big games then blowing off the lesser ones. They beat Miami in what was billed as a potential Eastern Conference championship preview...then they beat Dallas in what was billed as a potential NBA championship preview last night. Other than those two games, they're 1-10 ATS in the other 11 recent games (!).

That includes straight up losses to New Jersey (who they won't face in the playoffs unless the Nets beat the Heat), New York, Washington, the Lakers, and Denver. They've had some wins that weren't impressive margin-wise against Atlanta, Chicago, and Seattle.

Detroit is 1-7-1 ATS their last nine games after a straight up win. So, I don't know that you can be confident that they'll bring a strong effort tonight.

I can't really endorse Philly after watching them play so badly at home against Orlando last week. I'm just pointing out the possible negatives with Detroit. If they don't bring a strong effort...you might be sweating it at the end.
