Default Six arrested in Texas Hold 'em operation

Six arrested in Texas Hold 'em operation

FROM NEWSDAY.COM

January 27, 2006, 12:47 PM EST

Six people have been arrested in what Nassau police called a "sophisticated Texas Hold 'em gambling operation" in Farmingdale.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, the District Attorney's squad, the Asset Forfeiture Unit and the Fire Marshall's Office raided the FCC Warehouse on Secatogue Avenue as a result of community outcry and complaints.

Among the individuals arrested were Anthony Acuri, 37, of West Babylon and Arthur Davidson, 36, of West Bay Shore who were outside the building with two-way walkie-talkies. Police said the two communicated to associates inside the cashier's booth, approving potential players who were then admitted by buzzer into the building.

Officers seized the walkie-talkies as well as card tables, poker chips, surveillance monitors, ten thousand dollars in cash and a 1999 Dodge Durango. The vehicle was used in and around the parking lot as a security patrol, police said.

Sayed Ayub Hussain, 40, of Babylon, Melissa Delpezza, 29, of Bay Shore, Adam Trentacoste, 25, of Old Bethpage, and Christian Demeglio, 25, of North Merrick were also arrested.

All six have been charged with promoting gambling in the second degree.

What's also funny about the article is that it says they were operating a "sophiscated Texas Gaming Hold'em operation". Then a couple of sentences later the article says they were "raided as a result of community outcry and complaints"

What were the complaints about....."? blocking traffic, loud noise or what? And that's "sophiscated"?

BFD. All that police manpower for misdemeanors. Oh this<<Asset Forfeiture Unit >>? Originally implemented for drug and high-tech white collar crimes.

Someone needs to do a "study". To report which would help the econony more. A. Keep gambling illegal so law enforcement won't lose ANY jobs or B. make it legal which would create jobs etc.

You can almost always find a poker tournament on TV, yet it is a crime to have a game, lol.
