Six people have been arrested in what Nassau police called a "sophisticated Texas Hold 'em gambling operation" in Farmingdale.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, the District Attorney's squad, the Asset Forfeiture Unit and the Fire Marshall's Office raided the FCC Warehouse on Secatogue Avenue as a result of community outcry and complaints.
Among the individuals arrested were Anthony Acuri, 37, of West Babylon and Arthur Davidson, 36, of West Bay Shore who were outside the building with two-way walkie-talkies. Police said the two communicated to associates inside the cashier's booth, approving potential players who were then admitted by buzzer into the building.
Officers seized the walkie-talkies as well as card tables, poker chips, surveillance monitors, ten thousand dollars in cash and a 1999 Dodge Durango. The vehicle was used in and around the parking lot as a security patrol, police said.
Sayed Ayub Hussain, 40, of Babylon, Melissa Delpezza, 29, of Bay Shore, Adam Trentacoste, 25, of Old Bethpage, and Christian Demeglio, 25, of North Merrick were also arrested.
All six have been charged with promoting gambling in the second degree. |
