But I lost my whole roll on the Colts sunday. It wasn't too too much but I had built it up from my initial investment which was 2,200 to 12,700 in about a month and a half. I thought there was absolutely no way the Colts could lose to the Steelers(I'm usually very good at predicting games), so I bet 10 dimes to win 2. You all know what happened. It left me with about 2700 which I quickly doubled up on the Panthers money line(i am frantic by this point). Then out of insane desperation to get back to the level I was at, I made my 2nd huge mistake and bet it all on the Cavaliers -4 against the blazers. Lost it all. Insanity insanity. Let this be a lesson to those who dont already know. Never use a lot of money you have in the book as leverage to bet try to win "easy money". This is the 2nd time its happened to me but this was on a far greater scale. Of course I will never do it again, but that was a very expensive lesson. Yestersday I made my measley deposit of 400 dollars at the latest sports book and won a 200 dollar bet last night to make the total 600. Would've felt the same if I had lost the bet. 12,000 big ones gone. Man life sucks.

Hang in there Skill. If you went from 2.2 K to 12.5 K in under 2 months then losing 10 g's in a day shouldnt bring you to the brink. Bankrollwise yes but emotionally you'll recover. Just learn from it.

The name of this game is to spot your mistakes and then correct or at least minimize them. I still make mistakes every single day - hopefully I'll learn from them eventually- however a helpful hint is to have some firm rules that enable you to avoid trouble. Even though it may cost me $ in some games I will never lay significant juice in any sport (over -140 in mlb, -150 in nhl, or -130 in other sports ml's like soccer or tennis) - sure it costs me from time to time but It never really costs me if you know what I mean- haven't broken that rule in 5 years. It takes a lot of discipline to succeed in this game so the more rules that you stick to that will enable you to be successful the better off that you'll be. GL skilled.

skilled27, Tough beat. As others have mentioned, from a money management point of view, your play was far too big for your bankroll. In a way a valuable lesson that you probably won't forget. At least this way when you get your BR up to 100 dimes you are not that likely to make a similar plunge. In addition, early in the week the money line was much lower than -5.00 on the Colts. On game day you could have gotten -4.50 at few locations right up to kick off. A neteller acount and a couple minutes of shopping would have saved you 1000 of exposure.

well i'm no newbie but I got taken to the cleaners yesterday. I bet the Suns at -320 to win 1 dime, at haftime I figured there was no way they were going to lose by more than 22, so I bet Suns-470 to win 3 dimes. I lost over 17k on one fuked up game. Sometimes you just pick the wrong night to gamble.

lol at the last 2 comments. I've been in this game off and on a long time(about 12 years) and I'm definately not addicted to gambling. I quit for years at a time. I know what addiction is and gambling is one thing that I dont have an addiction to. Drugs present much much more of a challenge for me. Before my recent investment, I hadnt gambled in about 2 years. I have won more money than lost, and by a long shot. I've just been in the gambling mood lately and I'm gonna keep it up till I get tired of it again.

I didn't say that you are addicted to gambling. Gambling is merely the tool you use to feed your addiction to "living on the edge". Others may feed their adrenaline rush by jumping over a row of garbage trucks on a motorcycle, or the Snake River canyon in a rocket ship. I'm not saying this to pass judgement but to make you aware of what I believe is going on, and this knowledge may be the only thing that keeps you from engaging in such behavior in the future. Good luck
