Heavyweights collide and jr middles clash on August 5th
The Mashantucket Pequot tribe is celebrating the lucky 13th year anniversary of Foxwoods Resort Casino by bringing ESPN2 Friday Night Fights back to the world's largest casino on Friday, August 5th when Lawrence Clay-Bey (21-3, 16 KOs) of Hartford, CT battles Derek "The One Man Riot" Bryant (18-4, 15 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA in a ten-round heavyweight clash. In the co-main event, Delvin Rodriguez (15-1-1, 8 KOs) of Bridgeport, CT meets Luther "Sugarman" Smith (22-3-2, 12 KOs) of Washington, DC in a ten round jr middleweight bout. Promoter Walt Lambert of Northeast Promotions will announce four more exciting bouts soon. “We take great pride in bringing the best in championship boxing to Foxwoods Resort Casino and this fight card in particular will be a must-see for local fans” said Tom Cantone, Vice President of Entertainment at Foxwoods, referring to hometown favorites Clay-Bey and Rodriguez. Clay-Bey, a 1996 Olympian, is a boxer-puncher who entertains the audience with his boxing skills and heavy punishing hands. Rodriguez, a six-time Junior Olympics winner, is a charismatic, exciting fighter with matinee idols looks and ferocious intent inside the ring.
