BETWWTS cancels my bet

Hi all: I am new to this site, but have been gaming online for many years. Today I put in a bet on www.betwwts.com on the rangers, the line was +140. I entered my wager and it was accepted. Then about a hour later I get an email back saying, "we apologize but due to an error on the line your bet has been cancelled". The line should have been -135. I called them and they basically said, tough lucky, sorry. So, because they make a bet they are just able to cancel it. Obviously in Vegas you make the bet and it is locked in. I am just wondering how many people have seen similar things happen. Doesn't seem fair that they can just cancel it when they make a mistake but had it been my mistake they would have taken my money to the bank.

The line was obviously wrong since it was off by 75 cents. What the hell did you think they were going to do?

Honor it! If I bet the other side and , finding my mistake, go back and want it changed will they do it? NO!!!
If they can't set a simple line get a job doing something you CAN handle.

"taking a shot". No, I was just placing a bet at an advertised line. I am pretty shocked so many of you think it is ok for a place to post a line and then realizing it is wrong not honor the bets. That kind of stuff would never ever happen in Vegas.

Rugby7-
1) Nobody "new to the site" just happens to find it the day they take a shot.
2) If they said the line should have been +135 instead of +140, then you might have a case. But when the line is clearly backwards, you are not going to get any sympathy.
3) Anyone "gaming online for several years" already knows the rule for such an obvious human error.
4) What handle do you normally post under here?
5) How big a shot did you take on the obviously bad line?

I always lean top the side of the player in these disputes but if you cant see thats a bad line nobody can help you. If it were +140 and true line was +125 you would have a leg to stand on but +40 to -140, LMAO!

Give legit players a bad name........are you nuts. IF the on line books are so "legit" then why does stuff like this NEVER happen in Vegas??????

Would you rather they waited until after the game finished before deciding whether or not to void the bet depending on the result - i.e. void it if it would be a winner and not bother if the Rangers lost???

Nope, didn't think so!

At least they did it and sent you an email within an hour to let you know whats going on - that way you have got your stake back and are free to go bet it at the correct line if you legitimately wanted the Rangers (which I suspect you dont).

Finally, I know that the Chiefs just swept the Yankees, but anyone with even half a brain would be able to work out that the Chiefs wouldn't be anywhere close to -150 vs the Rangers - perhaps only versus TB or the Rockies would they even be close to being that big of a favourite, and even then I would be very surprised!

In fact even my grandmothers goldfish could have told you that...

a reputable shop would change it in a heartbeat, but the chances of a player betting into a line off by 75 cents is a lot more remote than a player taking a shot at the wrong line

What do you guys all run online books? Someone tell me this, why does this situation NEVER happen in Vegas, and if you bet a line it is honored, period??

Shot taker, never even heard of that terminology....I wanted the Rangers, bet the Rangers at the advertised line, end of story, bet should be honored.

So you are saying just because something is online it is inherently prone to mistakes? Considering the fact that I run a business that does the vast majority of its work online and have never had a problem, I must say I disagree w/ u.

first of all betting online isnt the same as betting in vegas.

different rules.

i posted wwts's rule about bad lines in my initial reply to you. it is clearly posted on the site. if you failed to read it, them its your fault.

did you bet the rangers at the corrected line?

advertised line isn't exactley hard to think up if you have a brain. it is a line that is advertised....
