Default the NHL union is clueless...

Planet earth to nhl players! Planet earth to NHL players!

Espn is dumping your sport!!!!! Maybe you guys should read this statment, "It would have been the first time NHL games were shown exclusively on ESPN2, which doubled ratings by showing college basketball in place of hockey."

and yet these guys still have no agreement... unbelievable!!!!

the owners have to share the blame just as much. many owners believed they could just use replacements and break the union.
who would pay NHL prices or close to it, to see hockey that would not match AHL, IHL game.

watched a game (on tape) from the 1950s Canadians and leafs game six stanley cup finals. end to end action, no holding, and slow sleepy pace.
ratings are horrible because the game is; espn would have made the same deal NBC has, share costs and profits, no big money up front.

thanks

Slowly, slowly the owners are winning this battle. That'll be good for the fans if and only if we see rule changes and games officiated properly where penalties will actually be whistled. Hockey played at the highest level, and officiated properly, is a very exciting product that'll appeal to fans.

Hockey's alive and well in Europe (although they made a huge mistake eliminating the red line over there... totals even lower now).
