Default Best Poker Site for a Novice Cyber Poker Player?

An old fart wants me to introduce him to internet poker. About a year ago, I told him about Youbet and set him up for horse racing on the net and since then he's been losing his ass...now he wants to try poker online figuring it's a less painful death

Now I want to know what is the best place to play poker online for someone who is computer illiterate...ease of transfering money in and out (prefer to avoid neteller, etc.)...easy graphics for a senior citizen...lots of low stake games....u get the idea

Not that there is anything wrong with pokerstars but have you ever recommended anything else?

Like I said, I honestly have no problem with you and I do find your poker posts valuable. Maybe I should have kept that observation to myself because I do think your posts are very informative.

I play at other sites

I like Stars for the tournment structure the best.

Full Tilt has the best looking site , but few players.

Party and Family are huge for table games but not much high stakes

Be sure you sign up through an affiliate that rebates you part of their commission for you signing up. Most sites pay commissions of $100 to affiliates. Some affiliates will rebate anywhere from $50 to $70 of that back to the new member signing up. PM me and I'll give you info.

I'd say Empire or Party, because I started out there and never had any problem funding low stakes games with the 1000's of people that play there,

Stars is very easy and tons of players as well. And lots of places offer newbie freerolls.

Hockeystl,

I'll need to get in touch with you...was reading about Poker source online in an old thread...thinking about signing up there and also what is that PP "Instant Bankroll"?

Guys,
Not really looking for micro micro limit...more important is the interface/graphic and ease of moving money in and out without having to go thru places like Neteller, etc.

Also, are you talking limit or no limit? I think fixed games are definitely the way for new players to start out. There's tons of fixed .50/1.00 and 1/2 at Empire, Party and Stars, and they have top draw, newbie friendly sw. Is he on dial-up or broadband? When I played on dial-up I was dq'd an awful lot from Party.. not sure if that issue is a thing of the past, or not.

Minnow,

He's not new to poker...has played live before. It's the internet thing that might freak him out as he's computer illiterate. I want to make it easy on me when I'm explaining it to him and easy for him to use without having to bug me every freaking day He doesn't gamble much online except for the horses and that he goes thru Youbet and he just send money order to fund his account there.

Guy is an old man in his 60s...u get the idea...

Seems to me the dude is going to have to learn how to use NT if he wants hassle-free transfers with a maximum number of outs.

I had a g/f in a similar situation, familiar with B&M games but computer illiterate. I let her use my party account to see if she could hang, and she did ok. Never went any further.. She managed to set up a neteller and poker account for herself. She was fond of 2/4 which I think is kind of high stakes for somebody just starting out, whether they play for higher stakes or not B&M.

Handyman

Empire and Party Use Echecks. Money is transferred instantly from your bank to your account within seconds. Withdrawals will take about 3 days to reach back to your bank.

Doyle's Room was the only site I have been able to fund with a credit card. Not the greatest amount of action but there has always been a 2-4 or 3-6 game available when I have wanted to play.

I like UltimateBet the best for software. I don't like all the cartoony stuff. UB seems a lot more user-friendly to me. By the way, they have 1 cent/2 cent games. Any of the suggestions above would probably be fine though.
