the NZ and Australian teams play the third and final test in Auckland this Saturday. It is played over 5 days. My call is to back the draw. Okay we are backing the weather forecasters are going to get it right and I agree that's a pretty sick way to bet but if we collect who cares. Fortunately they got it right last week as I viewed the long-range forecast two days before the test started and made my bet and collected as only 3 of the 5 days were played due to weather. Betfair at present have the price at around $2.50 for the draw, Australia are at $1.55 and NZ well you can write your own price on us winning. Olympic take cricket bets but at present no option is up on this bet. The forecast for Auckland over the 5 days is listed below: The forecast: Saturday - Partly cloudy Sunday - Showers Monday - Scattered showers Tuesday - Thunderstorms Wednesday - Showers Below we can see a couple of lows circling the Tasman so hopefully they will desend and stay a while in Auckland. ![]() View weather report for Sat-Sun here :Text View weather report for Mon-Wed here (it looks like crap : Text

Okay we are backing the weather forecasters are going to get it right and I agree that's a pretty sick way to bet but if we collect who cares. You make it sound a bit, as if only in cricket the weather is an important factor. Many more sports and I agree, no hard feelings making money out of it!

this is somewhat comparable to betting on a baseball game that is limited to 4 hours, if the game isn't finished within 4 hours of start time then the DRAW wins ... (there are small extensions for rain delays)

acw for sure there are many sports where weather can play a big part but due to the length of play (5 days) in cricket weather can really determine the outcome a lot more than other sports. I only play the draw when I have got a long-range forecast that predicts bad weather patterns. Wet weather and snow will obviously keep NFL scores down as well but usually odd makers adjust the lines to factor. I bet cricket 3 days usually before day 1 so odds are usually not bad for the draw that early on. I do like the draw in cricket as you get a double whammy as the weather can play a huge part and also the two teams even if they bowl and bat for 5 days can play to a draw result, well unless one of the teams is NZ . Our cricket team is comparable to a college football team playing an NFL team at the moment. Can't bowl or bat to save themselves, in other words a &*%$en disgrace! I think my betting is about 8- 2 on the right side in draws. Sadly the time when I backed a draw on the exchanges to win my biggest collect in cricket, approx $8,000 the weather cleared at about 11:30am and play resumed for a result. At 8am it was pouring down and I was counting my dolllars and checking the net to find when the next flights were leaving for Phuket. That result hurt

At 8am it was pouring down and I was counting my dolllars and checking the net to find when the next flights were leaving for Phuket. You mean fvck-it. That place really leaves me cold. For a start I do not like Thai women, but the uggliest you can find over there.

Yes, I can attest to the fact that the NZ cricket team is very unsteady at the crease. If this was South Africa playing and two days were to be rain-outs you could just as well be counting your money. Will give this one a try though anyway, especially if the weather forcast doesn't change as Saturday approaches...

acw you don't have to go to Phuket to find ugly women. In fact just hang around me, lately I seem to be drawing them like a magnet. Oh well at least the ugly ones put in a 100% effort as they know that the next one could be their last!

The draw opened today (Wednesday) at the NZ TAB at $2.55 and has dropped to $2.40 at 6pm with the game not due to start until Saturday.

draw a slight drifter on betfair over the past 12 hours,,, 2.40 to 2.55ish fwiw draw would be about 4.00 to 4.50 if 5 full days are possible, (when it should be 8.00+ if 5 full days play are possible) Update, after 1 days play draw not looking good unless there is bad weather, australia fielding 1st, so they won't need to declare any innings closed, NZ make 300, AUS make 500, NZ make 250, AUS reach target for loss of 1 wicket, same old script

The key to backing a draw, is remembering to lay back at shortish odds and lock in your profit, There is money to be made laying draws in test match cricket, you just have to know when to lay it, and don't lay at long odds.
