Default Do you e-file your taxes?

I did so for the first time this year.

How long does it take for the IRS to send you an email confirmation that they have accepted it?

I think mine came in 2 days or maybe it was just a confirmation from H&R Block that it was sent.

Usually just one day and the confirmation will come from the company that filed your taxes. After I received confirmation it took like a couple of days before I could find out when to expect payment on irs's web site.

E-file is the best way to go when filing your taxes 'if' you were expecting for a refund of course. It sometimes takes less than 48 hours for the IRS to accept it and you opted direct deposit, it should be in your account in less than 10 days BUT, here is the big but , you could apply for a pre-approved loan from Santa Barbara Trust Bank (if you are applying from the West Coast) and have it in your bank in about 3 days the most for only $49.99, if SBTB approves it. The fastest you could go!

I already e-filed again this year, and I had my conformation the very next day.

I'm not sure what E file is... But I do mine by Phone... it's great.. called " TeleFile " has e-file direct to IRS. 5 mins & I'm done.
If my eyes were better at seeing numbers I could do it under 4mins..

For most of us, www.irs.gov will hook you up with FREE, repeat FREE, income tax preparation and e-filing. They list a bunch of companies who will do it for free (I guess the gov't pays them), and you pick one. I picked HR-Block. Since I used them last year, too, I was able to import all sorts of info from last year's return, such as address, employer info, and most importantly the kids' names and SSN's.

This free tax prep is for families below a certain income (I don't know the number).

Matter of fact, my refund is due to hit my bank today.

Anybody remember what it's like to get your W2's in the FIRST week of January?

Me neither.

I remember W2's the first week of Jan.

I didn't get a federal book this year, so I attempted this efile thing from a site off the irs site.

Did it Tuesday.

Guess what was in the mail Wednesday...yup...my Federal book. On Feb 9th.
