He is a fucking dick. It is too late indeed. Then you have Sergio going nuts in Saudi Arabia. MBS should have invited him to the Turkey Embassy. Tiger and DJ all of a sudden seem like the class of the PGA.

Kuchar, in an interview earlier in the week, told Golf.com, “I certainly don’t lose sleep over this,” adding that Ortiz “making $5,000 is a great week” for him.

Sergio goes beserk in the bunker

This wasn't even what got him DQ'd. It was his work on the greens. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4. 5!

Kuchar, who shot 68 in his first round at the Genesis and was 1-over through 13 holes of his second round before play was suspended for the day, was heckled by a number of spectators Friday. Kuchar, who usually is serenaded by fans respectfully yelling “Kooch” at him, heard some “Mooch” catcalls during his round.

One fan yelled, “Go low, Kooch, go low! Just not on the gratuity!”

Kooch had no choice to pay the $50k. I bet the CEO of Bridgestone was like hey Matt, make this go away or you're going away. Not to mention the full season or more of getting heckled. I love it when a guy worth $50 million says something like $5000 is an awful lot for someone making $200 a day.

Probably the worst move with the $15k offering. Whose idea was that? I mean is $35k to a guy like Kuchar that big a deal? Here he is bartering with the Caddy like an episode of Pawn Stars? Talk about missing the big picture.

Bad Luck for Kuchar this story got out but these guys should know in 2019 how something like this can Volcano on them.

He's fortunate the real reason he only gave him 5k didn't come out...

Because he's mexican.

I guarantee you Kuchar low balled him, because he's mexican. Because in his mind, he's 3rd world. He probably thinks all mexicans work for $8 a day, and 5k is like hitting the lottery. He low balled him because he's Mexican.

The only reason he makes the money he does, is because average Joe watches golf on TV. He can thank Tiger for that. If average Joe didn't watch golf on TV, there would be a fraction of the sponsorship money. Kooch should thank his lucky stars, he can play a game for that kind of money.

There should be no end to their gratitude for those less fortunate.

Entitled piece of sht.

I would love to see all of his sponsors fire him, and donate his endorsement money to charity.

I bet a lot of those caddies have stories to tell. I'm surprised somebody hasn't written a tell all book about being a caddie in the PGA. I don't want to indict every player. I'm sure Bible Boy and Swinging Johnson treat their caddies with respect but I bet asshole golfers is a feature not a bug on the Tour. There are several isolated stories already out there.

If Koochy had legitimate remorse, would have overpaid him with a quarter million or more. He paid the minimum tip to make it go away.

I wonder howid much it cost Sergio to buy all the spectator video of his greens meltdowns. If that comes out, he is is in deep shit. In the social media age, you can perform the most despicable acts and have it be described in detail and get away with it. But if there is a video, bye bye.

the cost to kuchar won't be in the 50 dimes he paid, but
in opportunities lost in sponsorships/endorsements that
won't come his way in the same way as they would of
without this controversey.

yep.

Just wanted to pay the minimum.

He clearly doesn't value Ortiz as a deserving human being. He thinks he's slave labor.

Pay him 5k and make him go away.

Ok, pay him 20k and make him go away.

Fine, whatever, here's his 50k. Whatever, now shut up and go away.

It's fkn pocket change for Kuchar, but he thinks Ortiz isn't worthy... and not because he isn't a good caddie. Because he's mexican.

iirc leigh steinberg is his agent. surely something like this would be game planned as bad pr and an impediment to future sponsorship deals. bad representation on top of the meager tip.

What I would love to know is the background conversations on the game planning. I'd imagine somebody said Kooch pay this guy and be done with this and he said no and then it got crazy and he agreed and they put that canned statement together. Betcha it was Kooch's idea for the $15k. The Whole "I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this" line didn't help the Twitter Tsunami. Public jumped all over that.

Who knows if his sponsors got involved. I imagine they did. I tweeted to the Bridgestone Director of Marketing that I wanted in on the 5,000 free dozen balls they were giving away....once that promotion is announced.

The guy agreed to work for $3,000 regardless of finish. He got $5,000. That's a pretty nice tip. Should Kooch have paid more? Probably. Should the caddie have expected more? No.

That doesn’t help Kooch at all. That makes it worse and worse. He took advantage of him. “This stupid Mexican will caddie for peanuts. He doesn’t know any better.” Should have offered him what real rate is for being a caddie on the PGA. I’m glad the guy said not so fast. We wouldn’t have known what a scumbag Kooch is.

Golf players in sports are like poker players in gambling. They are trash, darling. Pampered and pompous. Pussies too.
