Mods, please sticky to the top.

Ok, Clev and Gentlemen, I think I have this baby ready to rumble. Here we go:

This contest is primarly aimed at regular posters and Mods. If you haven't had 10 posts in the past year, PM me, and I will discuss your potential entry with Clev and Company. I would like EVERYONE in this contest, to make some sort of pledge. It's going to be a lot of work for me, and I'd like all to have some skin in the game. I'm hoping we can get 10 people. I would like to see at least $50 from everyone, but if you can't afford it, see if you can scrape up something. Twenty bucks, whatever. You must have something of value you can donate. A litecoin or something. If you're not a regular poster, it should be a $50 minimum, and I'll have to run it by Truck, Clev, and Hartley, and anyone else that donated. I'm sure everyone can come up with $50 by the middle of June.

The contest will pay out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

So far we have the following pledges:

Truckman has graciously offered $250. (Unless otherwise noted, pledged money will be split 50%, 30%, 20%).
Clevfan $100 Thank you.
Hartley $50 Thank you.
Anal $50 Your welcome.
Anal is also pledging a 1980 US Olympic Hockey poster to the winner. It's a little beat up from being tacked on a peg board, but it's cool, and it's signed by Neil Broten, and Dave Christian.

I think most of us had some fun with this contest in 2017, so I've taken the liberty of adding a few events this year, here is the lineup:

Feb 3rd Superbowl Prop Bets.
Feb 12th UEFA Soccer Round of 16
Feb 17th Daytona 500
March 19th NCAA Mens Basketball
March 29th NCAA Mens Hockey
April 6th NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
April 11th The Masters
April 13th The NBA Playoffs
May 4th The Kentucky Derby
May 16th The PGA Championship
May 18th The Preakness
May 26th The Indy 500
May 26th The French Open
May 30th The LPGA
June 8th The Belmont Stakes
June 13th The US Open

I've also taken the liberty to change the scoring formats, and selection process. There is going to be alot more points, and alot more risk-reward type plays. The tournament formats are spelled out on the spreadsheet.

It will be imperative for you to check back regularly to get instruction and put in your lineups for the next tournament. If you're going to be out of town, or something, we'll work something out. Anyone may PM me there phone numbers, or email addresses, and I will do my best to call you if I don't have your selections. You may PM your selections to me, and I will keep them private until after the fact.

Picks need to be in before t-off, puck drop, tip-off, etc. Late selections will be disqualified, and with 50-100 points on the line for many of these tournaments, missing a tourny will be painful.

The golf tournaments and the French Open will have tiers of players to select from, and I'm holding out, until we get a little closer to those events.

After all tournaments have concluded, if there is a tie, we will settle it the next weekend, heads up, in whatever golf tournament is going on that weekend. 1 selection each, heads up, best score wins.

First we will play the prop challenge. 2 points per correct pick, and 1st gets (10 points), 2nd (7), 3rd (5), 4th (3), 5th (1).

Please post your selections to this thread, or PM me, before kickoff Sunday. I'm hosting a party, so if you can get them in early, that would be great.

For other tournies, see the spreadsheet for points awarded for entries.

In golf, we may end up with golfers tied for 2nd, or 3rd etc. We will do a psuedo playoff between tied golfers. Starting with their 4th round card, we will playoff from hole 18, and run backwards until there is an elimination.

Just remember, we are ALL playing ALL tournaments, starting with this:

30 True/False

30. Patriots win the game
TIE BREAKER Guess the total points scored in the game:

Lets have fun with this. Look over the spreadsheet, if you have questions or see some sort of speed bump coming, let me know, and we'll work through it. I'll listen to suggestions.

I know you're going to find this to be a little complicated Cwissy, and will probably make fun of me a bit, but I wanted to change things up, particularly with the NBA.

Props to Truckman, Clevfan, and Hartley for their generous donations. I encourage the rest of you to throw something at the pot, even if you have to dig out an old Jersey to mail to the winner. We all have some sort of sports paraphernalia that we could part with. Or just send someone a six pack. I'd like a Tommy Frazier jersey.

If you're confused (Cwissy, Bucky) no worries, just pick your props, and I'll walk you through the rest of the tournaments as they come along. But you'll have to keep checking back, or you'll miss out.

Post your True false answers in this thread.

1.T
2.F
3.F

etc.

Good Luck All

I want to see everyone in this. Stevo, Clev, I want you to play. I'll play nice.

DG, KP, Nino, Mikey, Vegas Boy, Cwissy, Baller, Trucker, BBQ, Anal, I would think we should be able to get a dozen or so, at least. I think Nino has to defend his 2017 title.

Hey, I just noticed that the final 4 is in Minneapolis. If Tennessee gets to there I'm going to try get tickets. I'm a season ticket holder and looks like I can 2 or 4 if available.

It's not even Champions. It's UISFLAE or something. I have Never Trump seen so many contrived championships between countries and private teams, leagues, etc.

You make me laugh Cwissy. Thanks.

I have never paid much attention to European Soccer (or any soccer for that matter) until this contest. I have to admit, it's rather strange. Near as I can tell, they are still playing league games, in between their tournament games. Odd.

Top players play for 2, 3, maybe even 4 teams at the same time. Have your main team in your league. Another team in another league (different country) may pay a loan to have you play for them. Like Messy playing for Barcelona and the La La Galaxy a few games. Then you play for your country. You have the World Cup but also the European Cup and the Champions League and I think FIFA and I'm sure other stuff. It's 12 months. There is no offseason. When one league ends, another starts and the national teams seem to play all year either in "friendlies" or "unfriendlies". I can't keep up with it.

A 2 or 3 seed winning the dance would get 70 points. 40 for winning, and 5 pts per win x 6. Even if they take 2nd, they would still get 45 points.

If you correctly pick the 1st and 2nd place teams, that's 104 points minimum right there, and you'd still have 3 other active teams.

A 4-6 seed finishing 3rd or 4th, would get 34 points.
An 11-16 seed finishing 3rd or 4th, would get an amazing 50 points. 100 if they win the whole thing!!!

There is a ton of points to be had yet in these contests. And most of it is risk reward set up. So those who take shots, and get it right, will get handsomely rewarded.

I could see someone picking poorly in the NCAA BB tourny, and getting only 20 or 30 points, so someone could easily gain more than 100 points on the front runners.
Some of these points aren't accurate anymore. I changed the point structure as of 3/3, when I posted the tournament rules. I wanted to add a little more reward for riskier picks.

Congrats to Nino on AJax advancing to the round of 8, in the UEFA tournament.

AJax beat Real Madrid 4-1 today, giving Nino 4 points for the road win, and 4 points for the match victory... 8 points in total. I thought EyeYachts or however you pronounce it, outplayed Real Madrid a couple weeks ago, and they were the better team today. Nice call Nino. Ajax is at 50 to 1 for our contest, and if they can get past one more round, they will secure you at least 35 more points in bonuses. Nice job finding a tier 5 team to advance. That gives you a leg up on most of the field...

With certainly an exception for Cwissy, who also earned congrats on his tier 4 team, TitnAss Hotspuz, who advanced with a solid but boring 1-0 win over my putrid selection, Dorkman. Cwissy got 2 points for a home win, 3 points for todays road win, and 3 points for the match, also 8 points total. Tottenham sitting at 30-1 for our contest, will give Cwissy at least 25 points in bonuses, if they can win another round.

Congrats to both of you.

My condolences to

Anal and Goon on Borussia Dortmund. Dork gave up 2 late goals in the last 5 minutes of the first leg, to blow out a 1-0 game, and give Tott a commanding 3-0 edge coming into today. For our sake, we needed an Ajax-like performance. We needed to match that 4-1 road win, and advance on kicks. Dort outshot Tott 19-5, 7 to 1 on goal, but managed to lose the game 1-0. Go figure. Eh well, Tott knew they just had to play 10 in the box (is that a thing?).

I will also give my condolences to Pappy, Hartley, Norm, Clev, VegasBoy, and Goon for the early knockout of Real Madrid. It's been a while since they were done early. There was plenty of action in the game. Ajax coming off a controversial loss in the first leg, and trailing 2-1 in the match, got 2 goals in the first 18 minutes, and went on to win 4-1 (5-3 combined), when 4 of their 8 shots on goal found the net. Real Madrid shot 20 times, 8 on target, but only 1 got behind the High Jacks netminder.

That puts Cwissy, Nino, and BBQ in pretty good shape, but there is still lots of Soccer left (unfortunately...) The big rewards don't kick in until after the next round, so we'll see who's left standing.

It'll be interesting to see if any of these guys can get their low tier shots to another round:

Cwissy w/T5 Lyon 0-0 with Barca
Hartley w/T5 Roma 2-1 over porto
Harley and Baller trying to get home with Ath Mad up 2-0 on Juventus.

BBQ would be sitting really good, if BayM can hang on with their 0-0 tie with cesspool.

Good luck all.

the Ajax goals are amazing

i think it's good to have an event that spans most of the time of the overall contest.

uh, yeah, but It would be better if I had a team in it.

I didn't see that PSG collapse at home coming, with a 2-0 lead. Give up a Penalty kick goal 4 minutes into extra time, or stop time, or fixthegametime. Whatever they call it.

The match was over, all they had to do was kill a couple minutes. Blow a 2 goal lead at home...

Roma kinda got shafted too. Give up a VAR penalty kick to Porto, but when their guy gets pushed, the ref doesn't review? sounds fishy.

This may end up being a blessing or a curse. I'd be satisfied if no $50 contest ticket donation. Now I want as much cushion as possible.

I'm dumping the French Open. I don't know anything about Tennis, and there's only two players anyone cares about. This contest is enough work without trying to figure out how to make that thing interesting.
