I'm fully expecting Texas to blow this. Always a real positive attitude.

Runner up goes to, 2017 champion Flagsdown with 20 (4 of 5, 3 stars)

and bringing up the rear, Analyzer finishes 3rd, also with 20, but (3 of 5, 3 stars).

Congrats to Squeeky!!! the only player to get all 5 of his 3 stars. Well done.

Flagsdown, excellent defense of your title sir.

you should go with something like finishing 3rd Analyzer. When you write bringing up the rear it just opens the door to comments about anal bringing up the rear

Well, as always, pun intended.

Ya know, if the contest was simply to get the most number of games correct, and the stars were only for tie breaking purposes....

1st: Anal 11-4-0
2nd: BBQ 10-5-0
3rd: Indy Sports 9-5-1.
4th: Squeeky 9-6-0 (5)
5th: Flag 9-6-0(4).

In some respects, contestants are already rewarded for putting the right 3's in place, because they are getting more points for their wins. And then you double reward them by giving them tie-breakers for that?

We are often awarding the title, to someone who picked fewer games correct. Seems backwards to me. At the very least, the First tie breaker should perhaps be number correct, not 3' stars 2' stars etc.

Of course last year, Flag Rocked at 12-3, it wouldn't have mattered.

It seems many of us get burnt not selecting the right 3's. I've been on the wrong end of the tie-breakers a couple times now. twice for 3rd, instead of 2nd. I feel fortunate this year, because I got lucky on a number of plays. That Nevada game became huge, and I had no business getting a cover out of a team that should have lost by 5 tds. So I don't have any business complaining (and I'm not), but I've often thought it odd, that we give the tie breaker to someone who picked less games correctly. Which will always be the case breaking a tie the way we do it.

Since it's been brought up in another thread I'll comment again and you guys can decide what you want to do.

When Russ made the contest up the 3*s were important to him. So he made the 3*s the tiebreaker. Then 2 * etc.

It's worked all these years and no comments. All of a sudden were discovering who would of won if..............

This contest is admittedly not as big purse wise and only like 20 of the hardcore guys comeback every year to play. Certainly you can get feedback and decide if you want to change tiebreaker.

Lastly I'd like to say I just miss Russ and he was so against changing rules is why I commented as such in other thread. I can't speak for a person who has passed but I knew him well enough to know he would want to thank the people who are coming back if he were here. So if changing the contest tiebreaker makes it more fair and fun for you guys Russ would be for it.

So good luck and have fun!

I really think it should be run by Clevfan before anything official you guys come up with.

I think the rules should stay what they’ve been all these years

I don't mean to offend anyone. I just think we're giving too much weight to the 3's. When two players are tied, rewarding the contestant who picked less games correctly, seems backwards to me. It becomes about being able to pick 5 games correctly, instead of about doing well over all 15 games.

Why is it we can change the rule, that if the players are still tied, they can settle it on the championship game, but we can't reconsider how ties are broken in the first place?

At any rate, The Clevefan has spoken. So it's a dead issue. I'm not gaining any support from anyone so I guess I'm just on an island here. I have struggled with my 3 stars over the years, and it's killed me, not only in total points, but both of my 3rds were in tie situations.

BBQ has struggled with his 3's a few times as well. It's a double killer.

I'm a little surprised no one feels the same way. We easily could have had a 5 way tie for 3rd, at 19 points, and we would have given 3rd to the player that did the worst job of picking winners, out of the 5 of them.

I went back and quickly looked, from 2005 to 2013, none of the top 3, were settled by ties. However that doesn't mean a 4th place team wasn't eliminated that way.

Nevertheless, then in 2014, when I was 3rd, and Bobber was 2nd both with 18, we both were 10-5 in our picks.

2015, Material Florida 1st with 22, Lets Rodeo 22, both were 11-4.
3rd and 4th were Novi and DG, both with 21, and both went 10-5.

2016. 3 players tied at 16, the winner was 7-8, 2nd was 7-7-1, and 3rd was 8-7.

2018 I'm 11-4, flag is 9-6. So I suppose this is the only year there was a significant difference, and I guess it really hasn't come into play that much.

Perhaps Indio was right. Perhaps I'm just delusional.
