There will be a decent atmosphere, certainly. There will be a buzz. There will be plenty of drama.

After all, it's still the Big East Tournament semifinals, and we're talking about two teams that clearly deserve to be there.

But did anyone foresee Georgetown and Marquette meeting in tonight's opener? We know we didn't, and we're guessing ESPN didn't either.

But you have to play -- and pick -- them all, so off we go . . .

"I don't think this team lacks confidence. I just think we're ready to play."

Those were the words of Georgetown junior guard Chris Wright, fresh off the Hoyas' 91-84 win over Syracuse yesterday. And it's hard to argue with a team with a tournament record of 2-0 by a combined 27 points.

Normally, we would run from the squad that just topped the No. 3 team in the land. But in this case, we'll side with the more balanced team that has perhaps just a little more to prove.

Marquette -- fresh off an upset of its own, 80-76 over Villanova -- has been great, too, and it's a clear danger picking against them because they excel in tight games and have won six of their last seven.

On the other hand, the Hoyas, last year's Big East flop aside, figure to be more comfortable with more on the line.

Georgetown (-2½) is the Play of the Day.
