i dont smoke (one thing im glad i never took up)...but i sincerely wish everyone best of luck......some say they carry a picture of their kids or husband/wife and when they are really wanting a cig...they look at that...maybe thats what you need is a reminder why your quitting....that and about 10packs of gum...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

EXACTLY, when I quit last year, Russ was there every morning on computer to talk me thru the routine....it was a great help, because I smoke and drink coffee early in the AM. He was indeed a great coach and it worked, because my mom died during that time and I didn't pick up a cig....it was only a few wks later when I felt that I had beat it when I quit the patches and shortly there after thought I could just go with "1" cig ....at first it was just a few cigs every few days, before I knew it, I was back to smoking regularly.....

The patch does work...only problem they keep falling off whatever body part you stuck them to and you have to keep using it for a very long time.

Handy, I had one go floating off in the swimming pool in a water aerobics class.. was embarrassing. Also, the glue never comes completely off so you have these square gray booger looking patches all over the place, and sometimes they itch.

But I don't care.. a crutch is a crutch. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] I think I will put them right on my heart from now on, and thump and scratch on it whenever I get desperate.

that is one thing i do not miss about booking, the mnf pressure. in 2000, i recall the fave and the over hitting about 6 straight weeks. i am sweating right now just reminiscing. ouch.

i wish everyone all the luck in the world.i stopped 5 years ago after my mother passed with lung cancer.if you can stop cold turkey might be the best way but use anything from patches to gum and give it a shot and if it dont work now try again at a later date.good luck everyone

I spent $80 to buy my dad some Nicotine gum last xmas and he still hasn't used it. =/

Mom and brother smoke too...I never picked it up for some reason.

Also...I wonder what damage smoking pot does to the lungs. I know it's not anywhere near as bad as smoking cigarettes simply due to the amount of smoking...but I'd be curious to see what effect it has.

WR, My parents don't smoke and neither do my big brothers.. I was the only one.

I am smoking what I hope is my last cigarette right now. If I was smart I'd join weight watchers at the same time, because gaining weight and stress was why I started up again. I'm not going to worry about that for at least a week or 2 though.

Anyway...... Clevfan, Chris, Loman and anyone else who might decide to join in our temporary misery... good luck to us all. Let's do this shit, huh?

BTW...I have done autopsies on smokers and non smokers vs. meth users. smoking is a better way to die.

I never bought into the gaining theory after quitting the smokes but I've experienced it first hand...gained more than 20lbs the last 2 years...went up 3 pant size [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img]
