Poker dealing used to be very lucrative. Probably not so much anymore. It used to be a good gig and if you were good you never had the problems like this.

Dealers used to take pride and have a passion for the game--they knew the rules of the games and how the house wanted them run. Now I think its just a job--taxes are taken out and your hourly rate is dependent on how everybody else on your shift deals. Back when they were envelope jobs you could travel around and make 10K a month if you worked hard and dealt fast.

The tournament circuit was always desparate for dealers--

Unfortunately for every good guy that you would deal to like a Bobby Baldwin you would probably deal to a jerk. If your games were clean and you ran your games you were appreciated. AS the dealing quality went down --the players began to resent some of the dealers and the tips went down.

Then the dealers think that they are entitled to tips and criticize certain players for not tipping if they win a big tourney or pot. Its become ridiculous.

you're supposed to give out a warning, ''touch those cards i'll break your arm,'' just to give the offending party a chance to reconsider.

Sounds like it was Omaha or Stud-- it could be the dealers fault for pitching them in the wrong place.
