Default CFL tonite

Winnipeg is on the road against Edmonton tonite. Edmonton has not been a place that the Bombers have fared to well in recent times. I believe 1-6 over the last few seasons.
Both teams have done a lot of re-tooling in the off season, with the Bombers starting over half the roster that is new to the team this year.

Included in the change is a brand new qb who moved with the new coach to Wpg in the off season.

What prompts some action on the under dog tonite is the fact that Kelly is an offensive master mind and he has all the tools at his disposal. The Bombers will have arguably the best receiving corps in the league this year and a new mobile qb solid run game.

The secondary was their achilles last year and is completely gutted. It may take them some time to gel but I think the Bombers catch a few by surprise in the early going. Line opened at 9.5, some have as low as 8 now, best available is 9, although Betfair shows 10.5?? Should be a close, hard fought contest. In addition to the coach and QB moving from Edmonton to Wpg, there are an additional 3 or 4 that went each way in the off-season. Bombers with the points.

gotta love the cfl.

one trivial note, we all know how the nfl is the most hypocritical of all sports leagues, ''don't talk about gambling'' blah blah blah.

thus it was quite refreshing to go to the official website of the Edmonton Eskimos and find this at the bottom of the page:

Quote:
As far as this game is concerned Edmonton will cover the point spread; opening night for Ricky Ray will prove to be huge in My opinion. The return of the running game.

sure it's only one team rooter's biased opinion but what are the chances you'll see talk of a pointspread on an nfl team website anytime soon lol.

Hard fought game, that fg would've been good from 5 yards closer, the illegal procedure penalty was a costly one.

yeah, Moneyline players stinging on that one.

DG, tell me if I'm wrong, but WINN is in some trouble. They punted a lot tonite. Score on the fumbled punt, didn't generate much offense. Lefors is mobile, but not a big arm.

Chucky, both teams punted a lot tonite. The jury is still out for sure but I really like the direction the team is headed. Kelly has a lot riding on Lefors, that is his guy, he brought him and has tied his wagon to him. I think he'll be proven right, but he hasn't won anything at this point. This was a good spot with the points imo but I won't be laying the wood anytime soon.

I can attest to Lefors being a very good college player. Very accurate, good feet. I'll be pulling for him. Could do a lot worse at QB, and he should be coming into his peak years.

Hey, what happened to Dinwiddie? Is he still in the CFL?

Dinwiddie, was let go before training camp to let him have an opportunity to catch on somewhere else. No one came calling.

he actually kicked it and it was good... except eskimos coach had called timeout just before the attempt to ''freeze'' the kicker. really sucks to see such a tactic actually succeed as it is the worst form of unsportsmanlike conduct allowed.

Quote:
Winnipeg kicker Alexis Serna actually hit his first attempt from 47 yards, but Edmonton had taken a time out and the play was blown dead. Serna's second attempt was wide to give Winnipeg a moot single and Edmonton a narrow 19-17 victory.

"I made the first one. So I just told myself to hit it like the first one," Serna said. "You just lose focus sometimes. You make some, you miss some."
