Default Frankie Rodriguez has to be one of the worse relievers in baseball!

Geez, this guy just crumbles everytime he gets on the mound. He walks the bases loaded and sometimes is lucky enough to pitch out of it but he is terrible in my book!

Default K-Rod blows second straight save

K-Rod blows second straight save

The Associated Press

Published: Friday, June 19, 2009 at 4:01 a.m.

BALTIMORE - Aubrey Huff drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single off Francisco Rodriguez, capping a two-run rally that carried the Baltimore Orioles past the New York Mets 5-4 Thursday night.

Rodriguez entered the game with a 0.56 ERA and 16 saves in 17 tries. After Matt Wieters hit a leadoff double and Nolan Reimold walked, Brian Roberts laid down a bunt, and the throw to third by catcher Omir Santos was too late to nail pinch-runner Felix Pie.

Rodriguez (1-2) then walked Adam Jones to force in a run, and after Nick Markakis struck out, Huff hit a liner to right - his second straight game-deciding hit.

Rodriguez converted his first 16 save chances with New York before the Yankees beat him when second baseman Luis Castillo dropped a ninth-inning popup Friday night. The right-hander had not yielded an earned run since April 27.

While I'll admit that last year, when he set the record for saves, it seemed to me that he had a lot of "soft" saves, i.e., coming into the 9th with a three run lead, and I long ago grew tired of his pointing-to-the-sky-after-a-save routine, but how exactly does 16 saves out of 17 chances entering last night (and that blown save was a guy who not long ago set the all time errorless streak for his position dropping a game ending pop fly) and a 0.56 ERA equate to "...crumbles everytime he gets on the mound?" Talk sense!

I have never seen him close a game without allowing at least one runner on base!

I see. Does your bookie pay you for games where the tying run merely got on base, but didn't score? Would you care to revise your "crumble" statement?

LOL, Nostaw, he's gonna cost NY big time in an important game because he walks way too many batters. He has good stuff but he continues to pitch himself into jams only to get out of them. It will catch up with him in a big game one day!

Nostaw, my statement was a over reaction because I was a victim of one of those walkfest jams that he couldnt pitch out of in Baltimore.

I agree with you completely, I was only talking about what he'd done thus far this season...

Nostaw, I was just pissed when he blew that one game @ Balt.! To sit and watch the entire game and lose at the end on walks(something so fundamental), its tough to take!
