Default Knicks' Eddy Curry 'devastated' by the killing of former girlfriend and Infant daughter

CHICAGO - An attorney for New York Knicks player Eddy Curry says a woman found slain in Chicago is Curry's former girlfriend and the mother of his 3-year-old son.

Attorney Kelly Saindon said Sunday in Chicago that Curry -- a former player for the Chicago Bulls -- is devastated by the slayings of Nova Henry and her infant daughter.

Curry's 3-year-old son was found unharmed at the scene.

Chicago Police spokeswoman Monique Bond says a relative found the bodies of 24-year-old Henry and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava, in their apartment Saturday evening.

No one had been charged in the case as of Sunday morning.

Bond says police believe the killings on the city's near South Side were the result of a domestic dispute, but she would not elaborate.

Saindon said Curry is considering traveling to Chicago to support the victims' family. The Knicks' next game is scheduled for Monday.

Default Curry’s Ex-Girlfriend Is Found Murdered in Her Home

Curry’s Ex-Girlfriend Is Found Murdered in Her Home
By HOWARD BECK
Knicks center Eddy Curry is mourning the death of a former girlfriend, who was found murdered in her Chicago home Saturday.

The Chicago police are investigating the killings of Nova Henry, 24, and her infant daughter, Ava. The two were shot to death, and their bodies were discovered by Henry’s mother, according to news reports in Chicago. Henry is the mother of Curry’s 3-year-old son, who was present and might have witnessed the murders. The boy was unharmed, according to a police spokeswoman, Monique Bond.

No one has been arrested, but according to The Chicago Tribune, the police are seeking to question a man who was the subject of a protection order granted in 2007. The man has not been named a suspect, however. Bond said that the police believed that “a known acquaintance was involved,” although they had not yet defined the shootings as a domestic dispute.

The Knicks released a statement on Curry’s behalf Sunday: “The Curry family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss and will keep the Henry family in their prayers. This is a police matter, and we ask that the media respect the privacy of both families during this time of mourning.”

Curry’s lawyer, Kelly Saindon, and his agent, Leon Rose, could not be reached for comment Sunday. Curry was with the Knicks in Philadelphia on Saturday night when he learned what had happened. He returned with the team to New York. His plans were not immediately clear.

Curry has had his most trying season, personally and professionally. He has hardly played because of a persistent knee injury. He missed the first week of training camp because of illness and was left out of Coach Mike D’Antoni’s opening-night rotation.

Curry made his season debut Jan. 8, but he played fewer than three minutes in a loss at Dallas and has not played since because of the knee injury.

Two weeks ago, Curry was sued by his former driver, who accused Curry of sexual harassment and verbal abuse. The driver also claimed that he was owed $93,000 in unpaid wages and reimbursements. Curry has denied all of the allegations. His lawyer, Saindon, has described the driver, David Kuchinsky, as a “disgruntled former employee” and the suit as an extortion attempt.

Joshua Robinson contributed reporting.

so the 3 year old boy may have witnessed the murders but didnt say anything? the bodies werent discovered until the mom arrived?

and the killer went after just the mom and infant daughter, but left the boy alone?

sad and strange, but sounds like the dad of the infant daughter is involved

It's been a tough winter for Knicks center Eddie Curry.

Knicks center Eddy Curry's 3-year-old son has told his relatives he knows who killed his mother.

"Fred did it," said Noah Curry.

Noah was discovered Saturday by his grandmother, covered in blood, huddled in a chair near the slain bodies of his mother and baby half-sister, Ava.

"Fred" is Fredrick Goings, 36, the ex-boyfriend of Nova Henry, according to the victim's step-uncle Tom Henrywho spoke to the Daily News. "He told everybody, 'Fred did it,'" said Henry.

Goings was "interviewed" by Chicago police about the murder, but he was not charged. "We continue to gather evidence," said Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond.

Nova Henry's relationship with Goings, characterized by her family as a violent stalker, soured enough in 2006 that she had a restraining order taken out against him.

Curry, who got married and had four more kids after his split from Henry, was seen Tuesday near the suburban Chicago home of his parents. It's unknown whether he has been reunited with Noah.

Default Arrest made in slayings of Curry's ex, baby

Arrest made in slayings of Curry's ex, baby

12:22 PM EST, February 21, 2009

CHICAGO - Police said Saturday they had arrested a suspect in the slayings of the former girlfriend of New York Knicks' player Eddy Curry and her baby.

Police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak confirmed Saturday that one person was in custody.

Kubiak said police believe the person under arrest killed Nova Henry and her infant daughter, Ava, who were found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in their apartment on Jan. 24.

Henry was the mother of ex- Chicago Bulls player Curry's 3-year-old son. The boy was found unharmed at the scene.

Knicks spokesman Jonathan Supranowitz said by e-mail to The Associated Press: "Eddy has no comment."

Kubiak said she could not confirm details of the arrest.

The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday that Henry's mother, Yolan Henry, said a detective informed her after midnight that a Chicago man, a more recent boyfriend of her daughter's, was in custody.

"I feel relieved that I don't have to walk outside and wonder if he going to hurt my grandson," Yolan Henry told the newspaper.

At Henry's funeral last month, she had told mourners: "Whoever did this and whatever did this, it's going to be taken care of by God."

Fredrick Goings of Chicago was charged Sunday with two counts of first-degree murder, Cook County State's Attorney spokeswoman Sally Daly said.

Police said Goings was arrested Friday evening as he was getting into his car outside a relative's place in Chicago. Goings has not made any statements to authorities and is not cooperating in the investigation, Lt. Denis Walsh said.

It was not immediately clear who was representing Goings. A message left at his Chicago law office Sunday was not returned. Goings was due in bond court on Monday.

The bodies of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava, were found in their Chicago apartment on Jan. 24. Both died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Henry also was the mother of ex-Chicago Bulls player Curry's 3-year-old son, who was found unharmed at the scene.

Court records show that Goings was Henry's attorney in a paternity case with Curry involving Ava.

According to the Chicago Tribune, records show that DNA tests confirmed Ava was Curry's daughter. Curry, through Knicks spokesman Jonathan Supranowitz, declined comment. Messages left Sunday for his attorney were not immediately returned.

Police said Goings and Henry had "a relationship" and the motive for the shooting was "domestic related" but declined to elaborate.

According to police, Nova Henry let Goings into the apartment on Jan. 24 and the two quarreled.

"What happened inside that apartment will have to come out at a later date," Walsh told reporters Sunday. "There obviously was an argument."

Police said surveillance images and other evidence linked Goings to the case, but authorities declined to give details.

Goings has been practicing law since April 2005, according to state records.

Kinda surprised this guy wasn't found dead in a ditch before he could be arrested...

Default Murders of woman and child spawn 2 custody battles

Murders of woman and child spawn 2 custody battles
By Associated Press
6:20 AM CST, February 28, 2009

CHICAGO (AP) — Last month's fatal shootings of New York Knicks player Eddy Curry's former girlfriend and her 10-month-old daughter have engendered two separate child custody cases in Cook County Circuit Court.

Attorney Fredrick Goings appeared Friday to fight his former wife's attempt to gain custody of their daughter, 5-year-old Destyne.

The 36-year-old Goings is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 24 slayings of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her 10-month-old daughter, Ava. His former wife, California college student Susanna Cornish, came to Chicago to challenge his sole custody of Destyne, but Goings contended Cornish has only visited the child for 20 hours since her birth.

In the second case, Curry's mother appeared in court to ask for custody of her son's son by the dead woman, 3-year-old Noah Henry.

CHICAGO --

A Chicago attorney accused of killing New York Knicks player Eddy Curry's ex-girlfriend and their infant daughter has pleaded not guilty.

Fredrick Goings is charged with first-degree murder in the January shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and 10-month-old Ava. The 36-year-old entered the plea at an arraignment Thursday.

Defense attorney John Lyke withdrew from the case, saying Goings can't afford a private lawyer. The judge ordered Goings to file an affidavit proving he can't before he'll get a public defender.

Authorities say Goings represented Henry in a paternity case involving Curry. Authorities say Goings and Henry were romantically involved and that she unsuccessfully tried to end the relationship.

Lyke has declined to discuss details of the case but has said Goings maintains his innocence.
