Default is bush creating a crisis to bolster mccain's chances

he let lehman bros go under and said it wasn't the government's business when mccain was doing well but now that the republicans are sliding in the polls it seems like he's making it sound like doomsday is coming unless the republican's come to the rescue. and now mccain is trying to be the hero claiming that he can't possibly worry about a campaign when the u.s. is on the brink of a financial crisis.

it all reminds me of how the the government kept raising the terror alerts to orange when they needed the public and others in government to pass a bill they wanted but then lowered it to green and claimed all is good when it didn't serve them anymore.

no doubt the republicans will now say that the voters would be greatly hurting themselves if they changed the government at this time with the economy in turmoil and that no president or party is booted at times of crisis.

the republicans are charlatans and hypocrites and ironically would make great insurance salesmen.

You can book one thing . . . McCain's conduct yesterday about trying to
postpone the first debate is a ploy to try to get the VP debate quashed, entirely. Lindsay Graham admitted as much, when he suggested erasing
the VP debate to accommodate delayed three-pronged prez debates. I'd be apprehensive about Palin running her mouth in public, myself, but since you picked her, John . . .

I read a great suggestion for Obama.

Obama should say yes, let's both go to DC and skip the Friday debate, but since they are all set up for it, have the VP nominees debate instead.

How would the McCain camp respond to that?

considering how much this current administration has done to deceive us, the public, i don't understand how you could not be at the very least, skeptical. personally, i would question your intelligence before questioning the person who started this thread. i think that person might be on to something, whereas the rest of the blind following neo-cons fans continue to operate in complete denial of how much this administration has lied to us, and mismanaged our country. if a $1500 stimulus tax rebate was enough to keep you happy and quiet, then they did their job much easier than it should have been..

for myself, i've given up on conspiracy theories simply because there's really no way to prove them.

i will say however that i have no doubt the administration is putting the full weight of their clout behind trying to get McCain elected (and rightly so if they want to stay in control). whether it was their input that got him to postpone his campaign and come to DC remains to be seen (or as i believe, unseen), but i fully expect him to say his arriving in DC 1/hr before the compromise the houses hammered out was due to his presence. hopefully Obama arrived later and can't claim the same

this whole presidential electoral process has been reprehensible by campaign staffs on both sides, and i don't see them cleaning it up anytime soon ....

If he is, the country doesn't seem to be buying it-polls indicate that suspending the debates because of the economy isn't being supported by the public. Perhaps not coincidentally, in the last week, Obama has moved ahead in all national popular vote polls, plus Colorado and Virginia which were previously unclear. In PA and MI, Obama was leading by a point or two and those Kerry states were unclear, now Obama leads in these states by 5-10 points. NM and IA are no longer close and Obama leads by over 10 in some polls. OH has gone from McCain up 4-6 to about even. Even North Carolina, where McCain has lead by at least 3 all along and as much as 20, a new poll today shows Obama up by 2- first poll ever to show Obama ahead in there. In FL McCain's lead has slipped from about 5-8 to about 1-3.

And Obama doesn't need all these states to win. Holding PA and MI
while winning the Bush states NM, IA and CO will do. Then, there is the matter of Obama's likelihood of winning in various states:

Obama 100% chance: DC, HI, MD, RI, VT

90-99% chance: MA, CT, ME, NY, NJ, DE, IL, IA, CA, WA, OR

80-89% chance: CO, MN, NM, WI

70-79% chance: MI, PA, VA

The above states add up to 282 EV, 12 more than needed to win.

60-69% chance: None

50-59% chance: IN, NH

40-49% chance: FL, OH, NV

To paraphrase the words of Tom Cruise in "A Few Good Men," McBush and Fail-in are gonna lose, and they're gonna lose HUGE.

Country doesn't support Hank's original conception, that's certain.

Country wants something done, though . . . just not something that's
wholly in the hands of the guys who cast the conditions so this original mess could fester.

The devil's in the details.

I don't know Mr. Memory I was just watching CBS News and a poll of Americans asking if they want the banks bailed out and only 13% said yes.

We could drown in semantics, here. If you're telling me that only 13%
of the country would wholeheartedly endorse Hank's original plan, I'll
buy that.

Still don't believe that only 13% of the country wants us to sit around
and watch the carnage.

Know there's a middle ground that stems the bleeding. Hope they find it.

Agree. This mess has swung the election his way and gotten almost everyone off the race issue.

He is still full of shit, but none the less if the election were on Tuesday he would defitnly win.
