Need some info on the Dominican Republic. I liked to talk with someone who may have insight into the country and the names of some established books there. An aquaitance has ask me to look into the country for a friend is part of a group of people looking to get into the industry. Part of the group owns some property there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. email wwsportsplayer@yahoo.ca or put some details in this thread. I couldn't find much through the search engines but with the wisdom and knowledge within this site I am probally better of off inquiring here. t/y

Thanks T/S. I'm familiar with PCI and all the bs that went down with them, didn't think they were still around. Anything else would be greatly appreciated. Email me if you have any links to any sites that may have some reports, stats or other particulars related to getting a service up and running there. wwsportsplayer@yahoo.ca

Hey, here is a guy that is a financial advisor who lives in the DR and publishes a newsletter each month per investment in the DR. I think it would be great to give this guy a call or shoot him a email with your ideas, he will offer his opinion free of charge. I used to live there and the laws were very vague to say the least per sportsbooks. May have changed. Also, there is a new president I think so you have to find out if he is pro or con with the books. I think that the book that was in the hotel Jaragua had some connection to CRIS' sportsbook and you may want to check if they are still up and running. www.ascotadvisory.com This guy offers advice on many countries but keep in mind that he lives in the DR and is VERY familiar with the political and financial situation there. Good luck.

Thanks Maximo. I know the people that are involved have some influence with the government there due to the property (condo complex, beach front). They've got me, through a friend, to do some prelim work and put a report and other stats etc, together for the others in the group who just have capital and are not industry savvy. Thanks a lot, email me anything else if you can or post it, the more the better. Ill contact the gent you mentioned. Peace...

thehippy, I can't add a lot here, but as Maximo indicated there is a new government in DR, which should be generally good for businesses. The peso has appreciated from 46-47 to 39 to the USD in the hopes that the IMF will strike a deal with the new government to refinance the country's massive foreign debt. So it will not be as cheap relative to the dollar to operate there. Power outages have also decreased substantially, which is very good. Still, have to be careful in any of these places. I hate to say it in the wake of the BetPanama disaster, but Panama probably is the best in the region from a government stability standpoint, and business infrastructure is a lot better too. But if your investors want the operation close by, DR fits the bill better that way, for sure.
