Default Rivers ends holdout, agrees with Chargers

The deal is for six years and $40.5 million. It could be worth up to $50 million if he reaches lofty incentive goals. The deal also includes $14.75 million in bonus money.

Rivers' agent, Jimmy Sexton, reopened talks this weekend, two weeks after the Chargers pulled what they said at the time was their "final offer" off the table. At that time, general manager A.J. Smith boasted that any future offers would decrease in value. The true dollars of this contract, however, are on par with the previous offer they pulled from the table.

Rivers was expected to be the starter when the Chargers drafted him, but his prolonged absence, combined with solid play by incumbent Drew Brees, now clouds the depth chart at the position

The Chargers are fuucking idiots. They should have made that stupid redneck sit out the entire year. Rivers will be yet another Charger bust story.

I'm really surprised that they coughed up that kind of jack for Rivers.

Amazing

As long as A.J. Smtih si in charge of that team, they're fuked....That being said Wade Phillips can make a defense play above it's head and they could be a juicy dog early in the year.

The Chargers are arguably the worst-run operation in the NFL.

Weren't they the ones who offered him big incetives that kicked in only if he won the Super Bowl for something like five years in a row?
