We all assumed that Tom Brady has political aspirations one day, but it appears the Patriots quarterback is taking steps to ensure his future is close by. Like in his backyard.

That “West Coast” matter that Chris Gasper alluded to in today’s Globe? It appears it might have had something to do with an $11 million plot of land that Brady just closed a deal on in Brentwood, on the same street as California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Eleven million.

For land.

According to everyone’s favorite go-to for breaking sports news, TMZ: “Sources close to the supermodel and her 'Errand Boy' tell us Tom just closed a deal to buy a plot of dirt in Brentwood -- on Arnold Schwarzenegger's street -- for more than $11 million. We repeat -- he bought dirt for eleven mil!

“TMZ is in possession of documents which show that Tom took out a mortgage of $8.225 mil that he will pay back in 5 years. The property -- approximately 3 acres -- was purchased under the name TGBE. We're wondering if the G stands for you know who...”

Totally. LOL.

I’m not sure which is more inconceivable, the fact that Brady just paid $11 million for land without a structure on it, or that he’ll be able to pay off an $8.225 million mortgage in five years. Either way, with his offseason travels well-documented, his absence from any preseason game, various injury reports, and now, possibly skipping out on practice to close a real estate deal, well, at what point do you start to worry?
