Thanks Homedog, and I agree with you.

When i was young and heavy into the drug scene, i hated "the pigs", and everything they did to disrupt our way of life.

But ya know what? During my life of drugs and crime i have seen too many people's live ruined because of drugs, either that or they're dead now.

I sat down one nite and wrote down the names of all the friends i had back in the day, and whether they were alive or not. 57 of them are dead, and mostly due to being addicted to drugs.

A couple of them were killed in prison too, so like you i believe this has been done wrong. Sending someone to jail only schools them in the trade, gives them more contacts, and they come out more dedicated to the drug scene.

I forget who said it today, but we do need to treat people's addictions like a disease, and give them the proper treatment to get them started on a new track in life.

After my 1½ years in jail, i was released to a Veteran rehab clinic that was live-in for 6/mos of intensive theraphy getting me to understand my addiction.

It worked.

furthermore if it is the federal govs role to do that why isnt alcohol and tobacco illegal seeing how is does 10000 times the harm to society?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the anti-drug war guys in an illegal gambling forum but.........

How is this an "illegal" gambling forum? Last time I looked it wasn't illegal to discuss issues, games and picks.

Also I think most would agree there is a big difference between online sports betting and poker vs. using cocaine or heroin.

thanks Howid. i was addicted more than 26/yrs off an on, and the odds of quiting or even being alive after that long are slim to none.

3% of heroine addicts are ever able to completely quit w/o ever doing it again. so far so good after 12/yrs (my quit day was Valentine's day '96)

living out in the woods helps alot. in the city i knew so many people it was really hard to disassociate myself from the scene. everywhere i'd go i'd bump into someone that was wanting to get loaded. it's more prevalent today than people really know as it's making a resurgence because they're making quality sh*t in Mexico now, not the brown crap they used to have.

lol ... and when i think of the $$ i pissed away it makes me shudder.

I hear that.....It's probably just a matter of time before we see that vid hit the net....Obama seems like the kinda guy who might get liquored up, and forget to password protect those home vids he sends out to various online swingers clubs, lookin for party hosts..

''I am repulsed by these rumors that my dear friend, and wife, are the women in that video....Michelle hates ice cream, and so i can assure you, she would never be eating Rocky Road out of Mrs. Bidens vagina..And, surely nobody believes that is really me licking that powdery substance off Michelles back...I have never, ever dressed in womens underwear, and i don't ebven know what that powder is to be honest.. Someone said it looked like cocaine? Well, i honestly would not know, i have never seen cocaine either, so, that proves it is not me right there."

"O.k., i admit, that does look like Joe Biden sitting on the midget, drinking wine from some womans anus... But, i am telling you right now, that anus is not Michelles...Michelle absolutely despises white wine, and pretty much everything else white for that matter, so, it is just absurd to believe that she would allow Mr. Biden to indulge in that manner."

Obama's sole platform was destroyed when he selected Biden. You cannot be an "agent of change" when your VP has been a Senator for more than 35 years.

McCain was still a prisoner of war when Biden was first elected to the Senate.

Obama should have stuck to the script. Biden is a Washington insider and a career politician. That isn't really "change you can believe in".

I feel betrayed. damn.

yeah, normally i couldn't really care less abou the VP pick, cause, seriously, wtf does it matter in the long run?

but, this one was pretty disappointing to me....it just seems the exact opposite direction of where Obama has been promising to go.

not sure what to make of it still really.

yea, both Obama and McCain got where they are for breaking the normal mode..Obama with the "agent of change" and McCain as the "maverick"

now both get the nomination, move back to the center of their party and pick run-of-the-mill career politicians (assuming McCain picks any of the likely choices) to round out their tickets

It is like they have no concept of what attracted people to them in the first place

3/words - foreign policy experience.

only experience Hillary had in that area was tea socials with other first ladys.

this is a world at war right now, and Biden was invited by Georgian president to come mediate their situation with Russia.

that is just the beginning. next is Poland and their defense missile system that has outraged Russia.

Pakistan has a new president, and fortunately he launched an attack on al Qaida in their stronghold, but that country is very unstable right now, and we need someone who knows the situation there, Biden does.

Iran. nuff said there?

i could go on an on .... but bottom line, and not trying to scare anyone (like i could you guys) or over-react, but there's tough times ahead, militarily.

idealistically, change is a great platform, but the world has other ideas .... history has shown that.
