Default Court Rules Boss Media To Be Seized By Poker Trillion

Court Rules Boss Media To Be Seized By Poker Trillion

August 19, 2008

Judge Gino Camilleri of the First Hall Civil Court in Malta issued a ruling yesterday, August 18, that authorized online poker room POKERTRILLION.com to seize full control of Boss Media Limited Malta and Boss Media AB Servers, which includes the Boss Poker Network (IPN).

According to the ruling, Boss Media servers must cease all commercial enterprises no later than September 18, 2008; exactly one month after the ruling was handed down. Boss Media was denied the option to appeal the court’s decision.

Back in April, a judge called for the freezing of all Boss Media assets as Poker Trillion had declared a €45million lawsuit against the Boss Poker Network and online payment processor, WebDollar. Poker Trillion stated then that the lawsuit was “for alleged fraudulent and potential criminal activities of various personnel and/or the management of Boss Media, or their associated companies in various jurisdictions including but not restricted to, Sweden and Malta.”

The judgment announced yesterday is just one in a string of successful applications made by Trillion Ltd. in the Malta courts. It was also ordered that cosignatory, now responsible for all Boss Media equipment, must record and present full accounts of revenue derived from the equipment.

“Today’s decision will in effect bring down Boss Media’s operation in their licensed jurisdiction of Malta on September 18, and any partner still on the Boss (IPN) Poker Network at this stage will see their service closed down too”, clarified Andy Pyrah, CEO of POKERTRILLION.

“It should also be noted that despite appeals from Boss Media,” Pyrah continued, “we’ve been successful in every one of our applications that we’ve filed with the courts in Malta and this includes having our initial garnishee order increased from €5million to €20million earlier this month, this in turn means that there is now a €20million freezing order on all Boss Media’s assets within this jurisdiction, and in accordance with European law we will be applying for this to be executed all over Europe”.

Boss Media and the Boss Poker Network (IPN) currently has about 100 online gambling sites licensing its software and utilizing the network’s expansive shared player base. Among the many online poker rooms that will be affected by the ruling are: 24hPoker, Virgin Poker and Paradise Poker, as well as SportingBet.com and William Hill Casino.
